BOX OFFICE: Tim Burton's DARK SHADOWS Makes $36.7 Million Overseas

Despite a slow opening in North America (no doubt due partly to the record breaking second week of The Avengers) Dark Shadows has fared a little better overseas. However, it's the Joss Whedon directed superhero ensemble which has stolen the show yet again.

After a disappointing domestic take of $28.8 million, Dark Shadows has opened to a slightly more impressive $36.7 million overseas from 43 territories reveals The Hollywood Reporter. This isn't too bad, but far from what Warner Bros. were hoping for (especially with a rumoured budget of $150 million). However, it still opened at #1 in many countries and still finished at #2 at the worldwide box office. Marvel's The Avengers made a whopping $95.4 million from 54 territories, totally eclipsing the latest Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration as it sped to a record breaking $1 billion in just 19 days. Remember when Chloe Moretz said what Tim Burton was doing with this film was "revolutionary"? Child actors are so insightful.

Although if your movie is awful and might ruin your career, now might be a great time to release it as nobody is going to probably see it. So if it bombs at the box office you can just claim it was the Avengers fault.

The best part is, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton aren't giving no less than zero shits at the box office numbers. They get their 20mil/ea up front.

Everyone ready for the next drivel to come out of this retarded cinematic combination?

Wow that is [frick]ing awful. lol

95 million in week 3? Looks like people had a choice between the two and just went with the best one. XD

I predict Avengers will have over a Billion overseas alone by the end of it's run, at this rate they could have it much sooner though.
