"Mommy loves you to death."

A few days later than expected (we were told it'd be online before the new year), the first trailer for Evil Dead Rise will be released at some point tomorrow, and the legendary Bruce Campbell (via FearHQ.com) has taken to Twitter to share the creepy first footage.

Following Campbell's introduction, we see a child take a look through a peephole as she tells her mommy that she "doesn't look so good." We then get a glimpse of a grinning Deadite that had been her mother on the other side of the door.

Check out the teaser below, along with a new poster.

Though it's already been confirmed that Campbell will not reprise the role of Ash Williams, director Lee Cronin recently promised that Rise is still very much an Evil Dead movie, and there will be blood... lots, and lots of blood!

“It straps you onto a rocket that’s fueled by blood,” he told Empire. “You can either get off or you stay on ’til it explodes.”

“I had to hire an industrial kitchen to create the amount of blood we needed,” Cronin added. “When I was checking out, I had to warn the landlord, ‘You’re going to find bloody handprints all over the apartment – but they’re not real, honest!’”

Evil Dead Rise is set to hit theaters on April 21, 2023. The horror flick will ditch the usual forest setting and move the gory action to the city, as "two estranged sisters’ reunion is cut short when flesh-possessing demons thrust them into a battle for survival."

Sam Raimi's microbudget original is still considered one of the best horror movies of all time, with direct sequels Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness as well as recent TV show Ash vs. The Evil Dead upping the comedic elements. The well-received 2013 remake was a far more serious affair, but it's not known which direction Rise will head in from a tonal standpoint.

@TheLobster - I hope the new film takes on more of the more wilder aspects of the original and show with Campbell involved. The 2013 one was fun, but I'm not sure it did.

@TheLobster - The remake was good but not as good as Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 or Ash Vs Evil Dead. Army Of Darkness was OK, it would have been better if they made it gory and scary like the first two.

@McMurdo - that sounds exactly like the original , guess I’ll give it a watch

@Taonrey - you're actually quite on point lol. The older brother is the weak point of the remake. It's def got an intense intro scene too.

@TheLobster -

Will never understand why they never made a sequel🥲

@AmazingFILMporg - you’re preaching to the choir.

The film made 97 million globally and the budget on this thing was 17 million. Even if you factor in another 17 million for marketing which I highly doubt was the case - that would still be 63 million AND the film was well received by fans generally too.

Make it make sense ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How Jared Leto should have looked in Suicide Squad.

Always open to a little more "Evil Dead". Hope it lives up to its predecessors.

This could be a great film. I'm pretty confident this will be good. Hopefully I'll get to catch it in theaters.

so is this another remake or a sequel to the remake? i am guessing it has nothing to do with the trilogy.

I'm looking forward to this and Scream more than any other films this year, I hope they both turn out good. Evil Dead's timeline is all over the place so it's anyone's guess where this fits in.

Wow! Back in the 70s, I always wondered what happened to my prom date when she said she "needed to speak to the captain of the football team for a minute."
