The sequel to divisive zombie/disaster movie World War Z recently lost its original director, J.A. Bayona, to Jurassic Wold 2, but Variety reports that Paramount and star Brad Pitt might be close to securing a heck of a replacement.

Apparently talks have taken place with David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, Gone Girl), and although the notoriously sequel-shy director was initially lukewarm about the idea, sources tell the trade that "negotiations are much further down the road." This type of movie doesn't seem like something Fincher would usually be interested in, but word is the filmmaker has "always been open to listening when Pitt reaches out."

World War Z 2 originally had a release date set for June 9, 2017, but the studio is now expected to delay that.

What do you think of the possibility of David Fincher putting his stamp on this flick?
