First Official Look At James McAvoy & Daniel Radcliffe In VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN

The first official images from this latest iteration of Mary Shelley's classic tale have been released, and give us a BTS look at James McAvoy (X-Men: Apocalypse) as the obsessed scientist of the title, and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) as his assistant, Igor. Check it out...

Fans have wondered why Radcliffe didn't appear to be a hunchback (as this is how the Igor character is generally depicted) in those initial set pics we saw last year, but by the sounds of things he was until Frankenstein had his way with him. This is something Empire discovered when they visited the Surrey set of the movie and spoke to James McAvoy. “As much as the monster is his creation, Igor is his creation as well,” explained the X-Men star. “That was quite exciting. It’s funny, the script, but also really dark, in a cool way."

For more be sure to pick up the latest issue of Empire when it hits shelves on April 30. Victor Frankenstein is directed by Paul McGuigan from a script by Max Landis, and also stars Mark Gatiss, Jessica Brown Findlay and Andrew Scott. The movie is set for release on October 2, 2015.

Boy it sure is pretty here in Spain for this Verrmonter but having to wait for everyone to wake up to read their thoughts is lame. I have to wait generally till 5pm before the newer articles to start pouring in. No what I mean?

Any new adaptation that features Igor is always an automatic fail for me. I want an actual adaptation of Mary Shelley's actual story not just another remake of the old movie.

Fact 1: There is no Igor. Not in the book. There never was.

Fact 2: Victor worked alone and-in narrating his own story- NEVER revealed how he brought the monster to life. It was left to the imagination as Victor refused to let anyone else repeat his mistakes.

Fact 3: Victor came close to creating, but ultimately refused to create his monster's bride.

Fact 4: The monster's first language is French.

The book is complex and somewhat episodic and more deserves a high-quality 8-episode television adaptation rather than trying to squash that complex plot into a 2 hour film.

@ScionStrom also in the book the monster was a dick and victor and him mutually disliked eachother. Media tends to portray the monster as being misunderstood and Victor always seems to act as a father to him, which is basically the complete opposite of the written work.

We don't need any more. Kenneth Branagh's adap was the closet to the novel so far even though it made some changes. And we currently have a pretty good retelling going on in Penny Dreadful too. Horse. Dead. Flogged.

Given the subject matter I'm sure that horse can be brought back to life.

Can you imagine if people made as much a fuss about source faithfulness when regarding adaptions of novels. Dracula, Frankenstein, Bond, Bourne, The Shining all would be considered crap movies

Yea @Ror Branagh's Frankenstein was good in the first 2 acts and adapted the novel very well.

Then that third act was like WTF with Elizabeth.

The universal Monsters movies are a complete waste of time.
The actors involved must be very silly or being paid a stupid amount of money.

The recent Dracula movie was piss poor despite having a nice take on the Count.

What really annoys me is that the actor playing Dracula would have truly owned Doctor Strange.

This movie above will be dire.

I have never really like any Frankenstein movie; I thought the reason was because they didn’t respect the source material, always thinking that the monster was a gentle giant driven to violence by society. So I decided to read the book instead. Men what a disappointment, the book is so boring… The creature is completely different from what we have come to expect, it starts as dim witted, but very soon it becomes very intelligent and deliberately cruel, capable of killing women, men and even children. It is not the lumbering corpse we see in the cult classic movies of the 30s, it actually is quite agile and an excellent mountain climber. Yes he wants a mate, and asks the doctor to create one for him, but when the doctor refuses he goes on a killing rampage against his loved ones. The doctor despises his creation –with good reason- and he wants nothing but to kill it or die trying.
Igor is never mention in the book, so is safe to assume that they aren’t interesting in the source material.
