GOTG Star Dave Bautista Comes Calling In First Trailer For M. Night Shyamalan's KNOCK AT THE CABIN

"See, the four of us have a very important job to do… In fact, it might be the most important job in the history of the world."

If you've read Paul Tremblay's acclaimed post-apocalyptic novel The Cabin at the End of The World, you probably have a pretty good idea of what to expect from M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming adaptation, but if not, we highly recommend skipping straight to the trailer!

Possible spoilers ahead.

The book, which was released back in 2019 to great acclaim, follows a couple named Andrew and Eric and their adopted daughter, Wen, who decide to take a vacation in a secluded cabin in New Hampshire. Their dwelling is invaded by four strangers named Redmond, Leonard, Sabrina, and Adriane who take the family captive and tell them that, to prevent the upcoming apocalypse, one of them must be killed by the others.

It looks like the movie will stick pretty close to the novel's premise, as Guardians of the Galaxy and Army of the Dead star Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint (Servant), and Nikki Amuka-Bird (Old) come knocking on the cabin inhabited by Ben Aldridge (Pennyworth), Jonathan Groff (Mindhunter) and newcomer Kristen Cui as their young daughter.

Check out the first trailer below along with a new poster, and let us know what you think.

Shyamalan might be one of the most divisive directors working today, but even his less well-received movies tend to do very well at the box office, and his most recent film, Old, ended up taking in over $90 million worldwide (not a bad haul when budget and Pandemic Era BO factor in).

Shyamalan also penned the script, and will produce with Ashwin Rajan under the filmmaker’s Blinding Edge Pictures banner alongside Marc Bienstock and Steven Schneider.

Knock at the Cabin is set to hit theaters on February 3, 2023.

@GhostDog - that was I was thinking as well when I saw the cast for this movie. Although I can see him as Flash as well

How is he getting work after old?

But then again, I've been asking that about almost every release of his since the village.

Dude even turned down disney money for lady in the water just because someone in the board room said they didn't get it.

Like, did he make a deal with the devil or something?

@Origame -

Because he is a good director? Say what you will but he can direct very well. It's the writing that's the problem. This film is based on a book that alot of people love so there is hope

@AmazingFILMporg - And he's been self-funding all his stuff starting with The Visit, so it's not like he's wasting studio money or anything.

@AmazingFILMporg - Yeah, I read an interview where he talked about how for The Visit he took a loan out of his home to fund it, and that he's been doing the same for his movie and his TV shows because he gets to have more creative freedom that way and it pushes him to do better work. And I think it shows, because even the worst thing he's done in this era of his career (Glass) still isn't as bad as that Lady in the Water-After Earth period of his career.

I like M. Night for the most part. I found old entertaining in parts but ultimately was a frustrating film because of the potential it had. It was a great concept. I think he needs a co writer to help him flesh out characters and help him with plot holes in his films.

@AmazingFILMporg - I thought Old was OK, but it was hurt pretty badly by the dialogue. I did like the body horror stuff and the themes it dealt with, and I love the cinematography; I actually think it's his prettiest-looking movie to date (having Thomasin McKenzie spend all her screen-time running around in a bikini didn't hurt).

I think you're right; if Night would either do it himself or bring on another writer who could punch up the dialogue and make it sound more natural while still getting the same basic points across, he would be looked at as one of the better genre directors.

@AmazingFILMporg - but he's one of those directors who's very hands on with his work, so him writing comes with the territory.

Also, old was based on a book.

He is probably bulking then will do a massive cut when a role requires him to be shirtless.

You know, ima admit a fault right now. Batista’s complaints about Drax aggravated me. Well, he was right. I say this more because Thor 4 (I know it’s TW not JG, bear with me) proved to me once and for all that yes, marvel tries too hard to be funny. You don’t gotta go in the other extreme just to not be DC dark, heck the quintupled down on the “funny” on Thor 4, and so Thor, Drax, and a host of others aren’t taken seriously. As a fan, I am disappoint. I now agree with Drax and hope GOTG3 is the GOAT3

Maybe cause you're young. I'm 34 and a cabin far away is a great vacation. Especially if you live in a major city. It's like a reboot for your senses and spirit🙂

@Reeds2Much - it's funny bc I grew up in the city my whole life, and it wasn't until I started doing trainings with Uncle Sam in the wilderness that I felt really at peace.

Now, I still live in the city, but I fuggin hate the city life lol. Too many morons packed way too close together. Plus I live in Philly, which is just a complete war zone now.
