Joe Manganiello is set to reprise the role of Deathstroke for HBO Max's Justice League Director's Cut this March, but the True Blood actor may have dropped a big hint about his next project on social media.
Manganiello Tweeted out a terrifying, flashing image (don't stare at it for too long unless you want a headache!) of head vampire Kurt Barlow from Salem's Lot. We recently found out that a new adaptation of Stephen King's seminal horror novel is in development at New Line, so this has led to speculation that the actor might be involved, and may have even landed the role of Barlow.
Of course, this Tweet could have nothing at all to do with the reboot, but it does seem like a random thing to post out of the blue. If Manganiello is attached to the project, the trades are sure to get hold of the story soon enough.
Salem's Lot tells the story of a writer named Ben Mears who returns to his childhood town of Jerusalem's Lot only to find himself drawn to an old house that traumatized him as a child. The Marsten House is an evil place, and an evil place attracts evil men. Unfortunately for Ben and the rest of the town, this time the evil men in question are powerful vampire Kurt Barlow and his devious familiar Richard Straker.
The book was previously adapted as a 1979 miniseries from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hooper, featuring a scene with a child-vampire scratching at the window which traumatized an entire generation. There was also a far less successful 2004 version starring Rob Lowe.
New Line's take will be directed by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home), who also penned the script. Aquaman director James Wan will produce along with Roy Lee and Mark Wolper.
