IT: CHAPTER 2 Director Andy Muschietti Says "Bring Your Adult Diapers" To The Scary Sequel

The Stephen King adaptation It ended last year's summer movie season on a high note, and director Andy Muschietti is already ramping up the excitement for next year's sequel.

The movie has not yet started filming, so no footage was available to screen to fans at
CinemaCon in Las Vegas. However, those in attendance did get a chance to see some clips from the first film and hear from the director. In a pre-recorded interview, Muschietti promised that It: Chapter 2 is going to be straight up nightmare fuel.

While the first movie was well received, there were some complaints that it was not scary enough. However, the source material leaves room for things to go in an even darker direction in the sequel. Chapter 2 will take place 27 years later, and will show us how the Losers' Club have transitioned into adulthood while dealing with serious trauma.

So far, the casting is pretty in line with the dreams of many fans. Jessica Chastain has already joined the cast as adult Beverly Marsh, and James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks to take on the roles of Bill Denbrough and Richie Tozier, respectively.

It: Chapter 2 is scheduled to float into theatres on September 6, 2019

@chewie - a scarier Pennywise too. Speaking of Pennywise, haven’t listened to that band in years.

@chewie - i watch a lot of horror movies so I never thought the It remake was scary. The success came from the great characters and great acting of the title chars. But making it more scary is welcomed, as long as the story is as good. Knowing the source material, if they follow it exactly it should get worse.

It was one of the best horror films of the last few years, so when he says this, I believe him.

IT was good not because of how scary it was. (Ive seen scarier) - so injecting more fright can only be good for this!

Hopefully the sequel is scarier. The first film, as much as I liked it (and I thought it was very good), was not scary. It was more creepy and disturbing than actually scary. I hope that the 2nd film really hones in on the horror factor and dials it to 11.

Which is interesting because the first one was literally not scary at all.

Wish they weren't going for the A listers to play the adults. The kids did a great job as unknowns.

Sigh. Everyone is either doesn't know what scary is, or are pretending that the first "It" wasn't scary. It was downright terrifying. Now the new one is going to be even scarier? Noice. Can't wait. @^-^@
