Macon Blair (Green Room, Blue Ruin) has been chosen by Legendary Pictures to direct and write the upcoming reboot of Tromaville classic, The Toxic Avenger.
The original film was produced by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz in 1984 as a low-budget B-movie comedy. The movie told the story of a mild-mannered janitor at a health club who becomes a disfigured, radioactive hulking mess after falling into a vat of toxic waste. He then uses his newfound form to fight bullies and corruption.
"Toxie" generated three movie sequels, a stage musical production, a video game and a children’s TV cartoon. Legendary acquired the rights in December, and has since made the project a high priority.
