RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY First Footage Released Ahead Of Tomorrow's Trailer

We recently got a first look at some promo stills for Sony Pictures and Screen Gems' upcoming Resident Evil reboot, and it's now been confirmed that the trailer for Welcome to Raccoon City will be online around this time tomorrow.

Sony shared a brief teaser to accompany the announcement, and it gives us a first glimpse of some footage from the movie. There's nothing particularly revealing or exciting, but we do get a few quick shots of some rather unsettling-looking creatures.

Check it out in the player below.

The movie will feature plenty of familiar faces from the first three Resident Evil Games - Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario), Leon S. Kennedy (Avan Jogia), Albert Wesker (Tom Hopper), Brad Vickers (Nathan Dales), Jill Valentine (Hannah John-Kamen), and Chris Redfield (Robbie Amell) - as they attempt to find a way out of the zombie-infested city of the title.

Director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night) recently explained why he wanted to take inspiration from the original games when it came to the tone of this reboot.

“I wanted to go back to the horror of it all. I wanted scares and atmosphere rather than full-on action,” he told IGN. “I think fans of the game felt the same. They wanted to see the iconic characters and locations and feel that the movie was more in line with the Resident Evil game world so that’s really why we chose to go in that direction. We worked hand in hand with Capcom on this movie to the point that we actually got blueprints from them on the designs of the Spencer Mansion and Raccoon police station in order to recreate them as perfectly as we could. We even have the exact artwork up on the mansion walls. Capcom saw it for the first time the other day and was so happy and excited.”

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City also stars Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin, and Donal Logue (Silent Night, Gotham) as Chief Irons. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2021, in the US, December 3 in the UK.

VA said he's heard good things about this RE. Surprising to me as the cast/production seems pretty low budget but he said test screenings were well received.

Cautiously optimistic.

Its gonna be low budget. The clips look terrible. Low budget is great but this looks like a youtube fan film instead of a low budget A24 production👀

I hope its good though❤

I'll reserve judgement until I see it. Can't be any worse that the adventures of Milla and her amazing friends.

I'm actually kinda looking forward to it. And if they make a sequel (Escape from Raccoon City?) that together with this one retells the story of the first three games in a refreshing way, it could be really entertaining

I hope this movie delivers what I’ve come to expect from a Resident Evil movie: Milla Jovovich fighting bad CG monsters in unnecessary slow-mo.

Not sure about this one, but Amell is a decent actor so I might give it a chance.

I’ll probably die of laughter and become a zombie if this is worse than the ridiculous movies with Milla.
I have a feeling I’ll probably be eating brains soon.

Cautiously optimistic. Set photos showed great potential, but possible disappointment with the trailer. SFX can still be worked on for a few more weeks, I guess…..

Hm…..

Wonder how many people are getting, #RestoreTheAndersonVerse ready?
