SCREAM Star Melissa Barrera Hopes To Explore Sam's "Dark Side" In Upcoming SCREAM 6 (Exclusive)

Scream is now available for purchase on Digital, and comes loaded with plenty of killer bonus content. The terror then comes home on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 5 from Paramount Home Entertainment, and star Melissa Barrera recently spoke to us about her role in the movie as Sam.

We won't say too much about the character here for fear of spoilers, but as the new lead of this franchise (that part is no secret), Melissa is bound to be part of the recently announced Scream 6. With that in mind, we asked the actress - who also stole the show in In The Heights last year - where she'd like to see Sam's story go next. As expected, Melissa didn't confirm her return, but had some ideas!

"Oh my God, that would be amazing. I don't know, I feel like there's so much that could happen with Sam," Barrera says in the video below. "Without giving any spoilers, but with how the movie ends and this side of her that she embraces at the end of this movie. I feel like there's so much to explore with her and it could be a very interesting journey as an actor to explore that duality of the character and her embracing a little bit of the dark side. I don't know. It's exciting!"

Those of you who have watched Scream will know what Barrera is referring to here, and there are definitely a lot of crazy places Sam's story could go next after the events of this latest movie.

With Neve Campbell recently confirming that she's in early talks to return as Sidney Campbell, we're anticipating seeing more of the original cast for Ghostface's inevitable return. How that story pans out remains to be seen, but directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett also recently spoke to us and shared some of their hopes for the sequel. You can check that out by clicking here.

@grif - yeah man - how embarrassing to want to be associated with one of the most celebrated Horror franchises of all time. The newest one (that’s certified fresh) only managed to cross 138 million during a pandemic against a HUGE budget of 24 million. Pffff pathetic if you ask me!
