Season 8 has been way better than 6 & 7. Those seasons had potential but failed. Season 6 could have been huge with the idea of "Eve" and Purgatory, but they dropped that for Castiel working with Crowley to use souls. Then Season 7 had the Leviathan which could have been another great arc, but they made it almost a comedy with the Dick Roman character. He wasn't menacing at all. And they wanted to get people fat so they could eat them?? Lame. I'm so glad Jeremy Carver took over.
