AMC's excellent adaptation of Interview With the Vampire recently wrapped its first season, but the network's other serialized take on the works of the late Anne Rice, The Mayfair Witches, is set to premiere early next year, and a new trailer is now online.
This latest look at the show gives those unfamiliar with the books a much better idea of what to expect, as gifted neurosurgeon Dr. Rowan Fielding (Alexandra Daddario) comes to terms with the revelation that she is actually the powerful “13th Witch,” and is bound to a mysterious demonic entity known as Lasher (Jack Huston).
“It’s really about family and dysfunctional family at the end of the day,” Daddario tells Den of Geek. “Then you add this dose of magic and take everything to a crazier place."
"This woman is really strong, empowered, and independent in her real life,” she adds. “But she is also a mess.”
Could we eventually see an Interview With the Vampire crossover? Characters from both book series do interact on the page, so it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility.
Check out the new trailer and poster below.
“The series will focus on an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”
Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex, On Becoming a God in Central Florida) and Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, John Adams) are both executive producing and writing of the series, while Spalding is also on board as showrunner.
The Mayfair Witches will premiere on January 5, 2023 with a double-episode.
