Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege Now Says That R-Rated MCU Movies Are "Not Out Of The Question"

Though Kevin Feige has always maintained that the MCU would remain an R-rating free zone, the Marvel Studios president may have softened his stance on that somewhat. More past the jump...

After the box office dominance of Deadpool, Kevin Feige was asked on numerous occasions if he'd ever consider taking the Marvel Cinematic Universe into R-rated territory. Feige always stated that there had been no discussions about this, and it wasn't something he felt would ultimately benefit the studio or its fans.

However, is it possible that after Logan enjoyed similar critical and commercial success that he's begun to rethink his stance?

During an interview with Allocine, Feige was once again asked about the possibility of an R-rated Marvel movie, and although he does reaffirm that there are no current plans in place, his response definitely seems less definitive than usual:

"Currently we don’t work on R-Rated movies, it’s not out of the question but currently, no."

Obviously this shouldn't be taken as an indication that Marvel is going to start working on a series of R-rated projects any time soon, but it does sound like it's something Feige and co. would consider, at least.

The question is, which characters under the MCU umbrella would benefit from an R-rated big-screen outing? Sound off in the usual place!

I don't see the need for an R rated MCU flick. To be honest, i'm happy keeping them family friendly. Let kids enjoy superheroes, like i did when i was a kid.

@TheManWithoutFear - you may not see the need but all of the people who went to see deadpool and logan do. I don't think they should go forcing some R rated movie out. But they have tons of characters that fit the bill. I mean punisher is basically going to be R rated on netflix and I bet its awesome. They should do it but only if its the right thing. For the right character or story and if it makes any sense.

Only reason I dont see it making sense is because the best characters for the R rated are either on the netflix shows (daredevil, punisher) or are with fox in the xmen and deadpool category but if the right thing comes along I sure hope they get after it
