LOVE AND MONSTERS Star Jessica Henwick Reveals Why Jess Pava Didn't Return In STAR WARS: TROS - EXCLUSIVE

Love and Monsters premieres at home and in select theaters on October 16th from Paramount Pictures, and takes place seven years after the "Monsterpocalypse." Humanity has been forced to hide underground, but Joel (Dylan O'Brien) decides to embark on a dangerous mission to reunite with his high school girlfriend Aimee (Jessica Henwick) after reconnecting with her over the radio. However, with dangerous monsters standing in his way, their reunion isn't going to be an easy one.

Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) and Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War) are also part of the cast, but we recently caught up with Jessica to discuss her role in the movie.

We'll bring you the full interview soon, but while we had chance, we asked the Iron Fist alum about her role as Jess Pava in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The character has become a firm fan-favourite, starring in novels and comic books since the 2015 movie was released, but Jessica told us that there was once a plan in place for her to make a surprise return in The Rise of Skywalker.

"I was supposed to come back for the last film, and I don’t actually remember what I was filming at the time, but I wasn’t available," Henwick reveals. "It did suck because I would have loved to come back for that small piece, but as you say, she lives on in the comic books and I think there’s a couple of spinoff books as well that she’s in."

"It’s kind of fun for me to Google ‘Jess Pava’ and check in with her. It’s like seeing an old friend and finding out what she’s been up to. It’s just weird because she looks like me [Laughs]."

This cameo was presumably supposed to happen during the movie's massive final battle, and it's a shame there wasn't a way to make this work because fans of the character would have been delighted to see her again. For now, it seems Henwick is happy to see the character live on in those tie-in materials.
