Pretty much the only value in the prequels are in the fight scenes and everything else ranges from 'acceptably bad' to awful, and AOTC is the poster child for the pocket that those 3 movies fall into

@OmegaDaGrodd - Just fight scenes? What about:

Sound design
Music
Production design (look of planets, vehicles, armour, ect.)

@Nightwing1015 -

"Production design"

I don't consider VFX production design in general, and I definitely don't consider the VFX in the prequels, or their overreliance on VFX overall, to be anything noteworthy. If anything it makes the already bad acting feel even more lifeless.

And aside from a song here or there I don't get anything from the Prequels that I didn't already get in better movies decades prior

@OmegaDaGrodd - No by production design I didn't mean Special effects or CGI or anything like that. I mean the actual design, art and look of the world.

The vehicles, the costumes, the planetary environments. The waterfalls of Naboo, the dusty plains of Geonosis, the stormy cities of Kamino, ect.

They are well designed films and had some of the most talented artists in the film industry working behind them. The designs of the Republic and CIS forces are perfection.

'Across the Stars' is still the best John Williams SW score since the original trilogy, fight me

Growing up on the OT I really wanted to see the old soldiers fighting along side one another in the 'clone wars' whatever that was. I was willing to put up with Phantom Menace because it was supposed to set this up, but this was the one where it really went another direction.

"C-3PO, Bumbling Comedy Sidekick"

I mean....tbf he did the same thing in the final act of empire. When he was comic relief on Chewie's back.

And the Arena scene didn't work?! Even Plinkett argues that's the best scene in the movie. Getting to see Jedi use their wit and power without relying on lightsabers.

It's a classic trope that people enjoy really. Being forced to fight in an arena. It's even happened in other Star Wars media like Force Unleashed II.

What didn’t work for me was the same thing that didn’t work for me in TPM:

HAIR AND MAKEUP/CONTINUITY for OBI-WAN

Good grief.

In TPM you had Ewan going from In Shape/Tan/Real Hair to suddenly Fat/Pale White/Awful Wig

AOTC it was his BEARD and suddenly Ewan forgot how to do his OBI-WAN dialect.

Awful on those fronts.

Also, PADME/ANAKIN on NABOO.

Anyone else felt that all the DELETED SCENES on NABOO with Padmes Family were better or at least helped the scenes that they did leave in?

I actually kinda like this movie except until they get to Geonosis

Attack of the Clones for me is a very rough sit. Mostly because Anakin is clearly a sociopath that Padme somehow falls for. That is baffling. If they wanted to portray Anakin's descent to the dark side then what they should have done was have anakin not confess to Padme about the Massacre of the Sand People, but instead show it as a flashback during the wedding scene. That way we end the movie on a more tragic note.

@RevanIsMyMan - That's actually a brilliant idea.

@Nightwing1015 - It also would have made Anakin's Jealousy in Clone Wars that more shocking to Padme. Like she can see some of that anger in him seep out. This was meant to be a doomed and somewhat toxic marriage.

This film is honestly not as bad as most people make it out to be. It's the weakest of the Prequel trilogy, sure, but not really that bad.

Then again, I might be biased as I really enjoy the Prequels and consider ROTS to be my favorite Star Wars movie (yes, I even prefer it to Empire).

Really? You think anakins dark side was handled well? He just slaughtered a village, even mentioning how he killed the women and children, and then is just all around a good if headstrong character. Its less of a fall from grace gradually caused by the flaws of his character and more "holy knight but i did something super messed up so you remember i become evil later".

I think the colossuem battle worked great. The story has been building up to Obi-Wan and Anakin meeting again, I think finding them both in this situation is a good pay-off to their respective journeys they went on. And there wasn't too much Tatooine or Naboo, because they both played very well into the larger Star Wars narrative.

The thing is what makes things feel like they didn't work is the awful dialogue and directing. Not everyone might agree on it, but AotC is another great piece of (story-)writing on Lucas' behalf.

I only had 2 issues with Attack of the Clones. The first was CGI overload. Geonosis was over the top with it. The second thing was the dialogue was wooden in a lot if it. If someone had been able to massage that script, I think that movie wouldn't get the bad rap it does now. Even Natalie Portman's lines were off.

So you just have no criticism to make to this film, except the CGI and the anakin/padme relationship

"tatooine or jango's death doesn't work"

You just don't have enough ideas to criticize the movie, admit it...
