Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is right around the corner and the marketing campaign for the movie is beginning to ramp up in a big way as a result. Today, we have a new batch of magazine covers courtesy of Empire with the spotlight put on the movie's main heroes and villains.

With that comes an awesome shot of Kylo Ren leading the Knights of Ren and while they didn't really receive the spotlight in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, they're clearly stepping up here.

That's not all, though, as we also have a gorgeous subscribers cover illustrated by Paul Shipper which teases The Emperor's return. Then, there's also a piece of artwork featuring "Dark Rey" by Rory Kurtz.

It's doubtful there will be anything in the magazine that's particularly noteworthy this close it its release but new stills are being promised, so we'll be sure to keep you guys updated on that front.

For now, check out these cool The Rise of Skywalker covers by hitting the "View List" button!

The Knights of Ren visual is neat, don't really care for the other covers (especially the first with the fake grass). The fourth poster certainly has a very 80s retro aesthetic to it.

I like to think that the Knights of Ren helmets are all the unused designs for Kylo's helmet.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Eh, maybe. I doubt it though because they're just too generic, mook-looking. Only grenade-face's is memorable.

Can the experts, who discover the first Palp poster was a hot toy, say where is this new PalpYork image from? Sounds to me a lot but IDK exactly where I saw it.
Thanks!

I never understood people going crazy for the Knights of Ren. Based on what? Grow up already. This is Boba Fett all over again.

I’m wondering if she makes that saberstaff out of Kylo’s crystal

Kylo’s lightsaber is a metaphor for this whole trilogy. Visually awesome, stylish, cool concept. But not very well thought out, there’s no point behind it, and it seems to have been made up along the way with no particular thought or planning.

Kylo would have had his own hands chopped off after using that thing for a week.

How they could have created that and featured only one scene where those hilt things are even mentioned or used baffles me.

@connorblaze - I've seen martial arts enthusiasts swear that the lightsaber crosshilt is effectively safe, but (from my own limited experience and study) it does look absurd and pointless and dangerous.

In a real sword, the guard is there to catch a blow from sliding up the blade, but Ren's saber wouldn't offer any protection in that case since the cross guard "blade" doesn't cover the joint.

...It's just... yeah... a really bad design, I think. Some people think it's cool, but it always reminded me of the EU mall ninja shit like lightsaber nunchucks or... this...

There is an elegance in a single shaft of symbolically-colored light. It evokes the whole samurai soul in their blade thing. And Ren's lightsaber made him seem like a dorky superfan (which, to be fair, he kind of is).

Knights of Ren look like a Star Wars theme metal band.
