Yes, Some STAR WARS Fans Really Have Started A Petition To Remove THE LAST JEDI From Canon
Petitions are all the rage these days so it probably won't surprise you to learn that someone really has started one asking Disney and Lucasfilm to make it so that The Last Jedi isn't considered canon...
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is proving to be an extremely polarising movie because despite almost universal acclaim from critics, a lot of fans have taken issue with some of the changes it makes to this iconic Galaxy Far, Far Away. In recent years, Change.org has become a place for fans to vent their frustrations and so it won't surprise you to learn that one has taken it upon themselves to launch this:
That's actually just one of many, with others calling for the return of George Lucas to the franchise or for The Last Jedi to be rebooted (because Disney will obviously seriously consider that after it's ended up being both a critical and commercial hit). Despite what you see above, though, this and many other petitions have generated thousands of signatures over the past few days from angry/frustrated fans.
Will Lucasfilm take note of this apparent backlash and reconsider having Johnson work on a new trilogy of Star Wars movies? For that matter, is the filmmaker going to decide it's just not worth the hassle returning to this universe? We'll have to wait and see but this petition makes the most sense...
