YODA Voice Actor Claims The Jedi Master Won't Be Getting His Own STAR WARS Spinoff

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm for a whopping $4 billion, Yoda was named as one of the characters who was in the running for a spinoff. Alas, it seems that may not end up becoming a reality. Check it out.

Tom Kane's name may not be instantly recognisable to you but his voice probably will be. The actor played Yoda in the popular Clone Wars animated series and he revealed during a recent convention appearance that Lucasfilm is indeed working on a plethora of Star Wars movies but one starring Yoda reportedly isn't in the works.

Despite Solo: A Star Wars Story's struggles at the box office, the studio isn't slowing down when it comes to developing additional spinoffs according to Kane. He even points out that there are a total of nine movies being worked on and that number actually makes sense.

After all, we have Episode IX on the way, not to mention films revolving around Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Then, there are the potential trilogies from Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. That's a lot to look forward to but when Disney acquired Lucasfilm, we were promised a Yoda movie!

Perhaps the studio has realised that there's just not much of a desire for that particular spinoff but how much would this guy really know? Perhaps he's assuming it's not in the works because he hasn't been asked to voice the Jedi Master but it's more likely Lucasfilm would want Frank Oz, anyway!

I loved Kane in Clone Wars but let's be honest. If a Yoda film is made it must be Frank Oz.

@Nightwing1015 - Agreed, but let’s be honest. Disney SW sucks, they will be downloaded and not $ supported from a lot of people from now on. On to the next I guess?

@Reaper87 - Yes, I agree. I haven't given them a cent since they bought Star Wars (outside of Battlefront) and don't plan to. Star Wars fatigue is already setting in.

@Nightwing1015 - not gonna lie, I’ve seen 7, rogue one and 8 in theatres. No more from myself and my wife. Even she (hardcore SW nerd) is sick of the new movie and what they’ve done to it. No more $ from us. Battlefront 2 is fun, got to borrow it from a friend while he was out at the rigs, but now he’s just playing COD:WW2 so I got battlefront to play but even that’s getting tiresome.

His own movie maybe not, but he would pay to see a movie starring Yoda and Mace Windu.

Thank goodness. Then again, whatever. They can do what they want with the property.

I'd rather we get an R2D2 dedicated film. I always wanted to see the production line that created him. What metals and fluids they used to form his structure. The programming language utilized to trigger his memories and reactions. And what the maintenance plan is to keep him functioning for centuries.

Until he falls over midway through the film, and the 'Made in Taiwan' appears.

@KillerCroc357 - you sold me on it! I’d watch the hell out of a R2D2 movie

@whynot - LOL

Don't say it too loud, though. Lucasfilm may pounce on this.

I'm putting good money on the obi-wan solo movie being an obi-wan and Yoda road trip kind of film. One last mission kind of thing. I don't want it but I can see it totally happening

@Antoin - I’d take that bet lol no way Yoda takes a road trip. That would completely rewrite the ending of Ep 3

@whynot - how would it rewrite the ending of ep 3?

@Antoin - bc yoda left in shame being defeated. The whole point was him banishing himself to Dagobah. If he left Dagobah for a road trip movie it would take away that ending Yoda is 100% Jedi he ain’t gonna leave Dagobah after he felt disgraced. Obi can leave Yoda cannot

@whynot - what if there is something that needs to be done, that he owes to the Jedi. Surely there would be a reason. Episode 3 was very weakly wrapped up.
