Yeah, I like James Cameron. I wish we had more directors like him. But you see the CHARACTERS made the story enjoyable. He wrote and directed the story, which was not original what so ever. But the chracters, and the universe he created around those chracters is what made the movie so unique.

I give props more to those that created the CHRACTERS and the Background work, and CGI more credit. They deserve it more than anyone. Do you know how long it probably took them to do that work, to paint at different angles, and redraw their scenes....and then repaint on the areas that needed more work than others.

This movie will probably get OSCAR for best Graphics, and characters in a movie, and an Oscar for its Art.

Hey..what's that smell?

Hmmm....I think it's the smell of Dark Knight fanboys vomiting over the fact that Avatar's worldwide gross will surpass TDK's in only 3 weeks time..lol

Ok now...keep the "but it's not as great a movie as TDK" comments to yourselves.
I'm only having a lil fun with ya's.

Avatar is kicking some box office a$$ tho!
Maybe I'll go see it. :-)

kitboy33@:you should it is definitely amazing. Not as good as TDK but it's right behind. But it doesn't bother ME that this is surpassing TDK, it deserves it.

I just got home from finally seeing this movie. EPIC the pure beauty of this film visually will be hard to beat for a very long time. And i was much more impressed with the story than some people made it out to be.

And i will say it was better than TDK.

Avatar needs your money Kitboy33, the movie is barely scraping by.

James Cameron sci-fi movies are always entertaining. I even liked 'Strange Days'

youre definitely right there aiiwolf!!!!
the effects were def one of the best things about this movie, it just drew u in and threw u into the whole experience.

but even though the story was unoriginal and all, i felt like cameron pulled it off way better than any of the movies that it ripped off of, like dances with wolves. it used a tired, overdone story, but made the best version of that story possible, and made it feel like more

Great cinematic experience, mediocre story and script, means good movie. DK is a better movie, Avatar is a better experience.

To say this movie is better then TDK is quite perplexing. But to each his own. Keep in mind though the ticket prices have risen, plus 3D and IMAX tickets are more expensie
as well. So TDK still sold more tickets. And avatar will not surpass TDK in total domestic sales. It will not be 2nd next to titanic, third is likely. Which is still an amazing feat and congrats to cameron.

Not to be off topic but I must express this opinion of mine. Iv'e read some of the comments that TDK is a better movie which is fine by me(I love TDK)! But you do realize that Batman has been rehashed, reinvinted, watered down, and reproduced many times over lol! About time the WB realize they have more film to bring cool DC characters like Green Lantern to the screen.
Oh Avatar is a great movie and experience:EPIC!

Its a great movie but why do people have this obsession with movies making money? People will go see any old shit for Gods sake! Paul Blart Mall Cop was number one at the US box office for about a month or something.

@Rorschach. I agree people will go see any movie if its advertised right. Paranormal Activity I believe was number one for awhile and that movie sucked. I saw Avatar yesterday and it was a good movie but not the greatest. And the visual effects did not impress me much.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 1/1/2010, 5:33 PM
Instigator girl, Paranormal Activity was a very well done horror movie, but it's not for everyone and what kind of special effects do impress you if not the ones featured in Avatar?
InstigatorGIRL
InstigatorGIRL - 1/1/2010, 6:14 PM
To be perfectly honest. None really. But I heard from so many that the visual effects will leave you breatheless, you will get so drawn into the world and its beauty... yada yada yada. I wasn't impressed. Paranormal Activity was not a well done horror movie considering you had to wait every 10-30 mins of talking before you got to see anything and the "anything" that did happen was what 30 secs? And anything that happened that may have been considered scary was in the last 30mins of the movie. It was horrible for me. Sorry I am not as easily scared as most people when it came to that or most other flicks.

I dunno, I just like those suspense build-up movies, thought it worked. rottentomatoes gave it an 82%, and the thing cost only 15 grand to make! If you don't like horror movies, you don't like horror movies.
