DUNE First Reactions Arrive Online Following Venice Film Festival World Premiere

Dune won't hit theatres until next month, but those in attendance at the Venice Film Festival were lucky enough to get a first look at the sci-fi epic, and have now shared their reactions online.

Denis Villeneuve's Dune just held its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and while press still appear to be embargoed from sharing their thoughts (we'll update once they can), some of those in attendance have still taken to Twitter to post their initial reactions to the highly-anticipated sci-fi epic.

Early word on Villeneuve's adaptation of the seminal novel was highly positive, and if the following Tweets are any indication, the Blade Runner 2049 director has exceeded even the highest of expectations by delivering a stunning take on Frank Herbert's tale.

Again, these are just the first of what is bound to be a huge wave of reactions, but we're liking what we're hearing so far. Be sure to check back in about an hour or so for updates.

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Dune follows the Atreides family as they relocate to the desolate planet of Arrakis to assume control of the production of the most valuable resource in the galaxy, the Spice Melange. Unfortunately, an act of treachery soon makes an outcast of The Duke Atreides' youngest son Paul, and he must accept his destiny as a powerful prophet of the Arrakis natives known as The Fremen.

Dune is set to hit theaters on October 22.

After seeing Blade Runner 2049 I'm hyped as hell to see this. Villeneuve is great at engrossing sci-fi flicks.

I’m so excited for this movie. Easily one of my most anticipated of the year. Fingers crossed that even if it doesn’t make that much money, the prestige factor gets that second half of the book made.
