Planet of The Apes Movie Review (The Tim Burton Version)

The original Planet Of The Apes is one of the most influential Sci-Fi films of all time. But we're not reviewing that here. Instead, we're reviewing Burton's ill attempt to recreate it.

Tim Burton's 2001 Planet Of The Apes is regarded as one of the most disappointing films of all time. Lets rewind the clocks back 17 years. 20th Century Fox was remaking Planet of The Apes with Tim Burton, who at that time was a hot shot of a Director. And it was to star Mark Wahlberg, who was a rising gem at that time. With each passing month, it was shapping up to being a great remake. Unfortunately that was not the case at all. The 2001 version just turned out to be yet another failed studio cash grab.

Nevermind the horrible twist, the flat acting, the boring plot, this film's main problem was that it just had no soul. I'll give it one thing, its a slick looking film. You can tell that 20th Century Fox funneled in a lot of dough to make sure this looked like a state of the art feature. But with a polished look, it lacked the Tim Burton charm. This film doesn't even feel like a Tim Burton movie; it feels like someone else directed it and the studio just added Burton to the director seat to give the film some level of credibility. So what did you think of the remake?
Is it the worst remake of all time?
Or is it a hidden gem?

Nice review! How were you able to post something planet of the apes related? I wanted to post my War for the Planet of the Apes review, but couldn't because the category didn't come up.
