Synopsis- Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Live Blog of the Event:

3:44 - "There is the DNA of the original alien," Scott reiterates, "But everything else is different."

3:44 - The look, however, is extremely similar to Scott's 1979 film. Spaceships and spacesuits look straight out of ALIEN.

3:45 - Even the logo, at the end of the trailer, appears slowly on the screen as the original ALIEN trailer did.

3:45 - Lots of Michael Fassbender, looking quizzical at a drop of blood on his finger.

3:46 - Charlize Theron's character with a flame-thrower. Also, doing naked push-ups.

3:46 - Her character is named Meredith Vickers and the actress has just taken the stage.

3:47 - Her characters starts off very cold. She's a "suit", according to Theron.

3:47 - One scene involves several characters in spacesuits firing handguns.

3:47 - There's a landing in a HR Giger-style room full of strange vase-like artifacts.

3:48 - "I want to scare the shit out of you," says Scott in the clip.

3:51 - "There was something that no one had asked a question about," he says, "...but that is the only DNA that is loosely applied to the original 'Alien'."

3:52 - "In the last few minutes of the movie, you'll finally understand what I'm talking about."

3:52 - The film is being shot in 3D with as few CGI effects as possible. Massive practical sets have been constructed.

3:54 - Ridley Scott says there "may be two" robots in "Prometheus".

3:55 - "I want you to do the next one immediately," says Scott to Damon.

3:56 - He says he's had the best time shooting a film that he's had in years and wants to keep going.

3:59 - The film is aiming for a PG-13 rating.

3:59 - Scott insists that it hasn't inhibited the film at all.

i been saying this for along time if this movie has a big budget its going to be a PG-13 movie not R-Rated.

FOX studio is reluctant to invest so much money on a R-Rated movie.

Ridley seems on the ball here for an old dude - and Bladerunner is my favourite movie ever - but he has made an awesome amount of shit, style over substance shit - 'Someone to watch over me' anyone?

He's always put style over story - just go watch 'Legend', but lucked out once in a while over 30 years (Alien/Bladerunner/Gladiator).

This all looks and sounds good, I'm excited for this and hope he gets it right.
