I love the new doctor . . . I just want to see how things turn out already.

I'm still on the fence about 'the latest model'. At first, I was truly impressed with Matt Smith's performance and the overall new direction that Moffat and company were taking the show, but a few episodes have exposed 'chinks in the armour'.

I was under the impression that the new Doctor was to be darker, and at first he was. But over time, he's become sillier and more neurotic (annoying). It seems that (at times) he's trying too hard to be like Tennant. Don't get me wrong, the 'other-worldly' moments are still there, but they seem more few and far between as the series has progressed. Also, the 'WTF' moments of the RTD era are still prevalent (Flying WWII fighters in space? ...in SPACE?!!) I was hoping that with the shifting of power from Davies to Moffat, the 'complete science fantasy BS' stuff woud fade from memory - not quite yet.

It's good to see that Moffat is paying respect to the original source material (the 'new' TARDIS exterior, the 'new' Daleks, the Silurians, etc.). I've even heard rumors that Steven wants to bring back proper Mondas Cybermen and get rid of this alternate-reality stuff (How cool would it be to see a alternate-reality Cybermen vs Mondas Cybermen 'Battle for the Crown' episode?) I'm still waiting for a proper Doctor time-line crossing story (aka 'Time Crash'). How about a story with Paul McGann's Doctor? In my opinion, he was never given his proper due and I believe he would make an excellent counter to Smith's current incarnation. They could even do something that drops further hints of the Time War. As another Doctor was so fond of say, "Hope's spring is eternal..."

Others are pretty cool too, saw a old movie the other day with like most of the DOCTORS together in it, dunno what it was called though lol!

Was it 'The Five Doctors'? It was a special broadcast put out in 1983 to celebrate the 'Doctor Who' twentieth anniversary. Even though it was titled 'The Five Doctors', TECHNICALLY only three were really in it - Doctor #2 Patrick Troughton, Doctor #3 Jon Pertwee and Doctor #5 Peter Davison. The original Doctor (William Hartnell) had passed away by this time and was replaced by actor Richard Hurndall. As for our favorite scarf-wearing Doctor Tom Baker, that was archive footage from an episode than never was broadcast called 'Shada'.

Like I said before, I'm still on the fence about Smith. Maybe I'll warm up to him more as time goes on...

Anil - YES! Oh, GOD yes! I must warn you though, it's very... 'British' It's not a slam (oh heavens, no!), it's the only word I can think of that aptly describes the feeling of the show:

Imagine a time-traveller from a distant planet who has the ability to literally change his form when he's close to death. His people are the temporal librarians of the multiverse, with a STRICT policy of non-intervention (think Star Trek's Prime Directive, but on a universal/temporal scale). He steals an old time/space machine that's 'in the shop' for repairs and decides to set out on his own and explore all time and space. In his travels, he stumbles across this little backwards planet called 'Earth' and becomes enamoured with its quaint people and their customs. He 'adopts' it as his second home and becomes Earth's champion (of sort), protecting the planet from the universe's bad guys (some of them, his own people!)....

Oh, did I mention he ABHORS violence and literally 'saves the day' by aid of his wits and and a sonic screwdriver? Yes, you read right - I said 'SCREWDRIVER'.

British... very British (LOL)

If you're interested in the series and don't feel like sorting throuh the 40 PLUS years of source material (yes, I AM serious - the Guinness Book of World's Records lists 'Doctor Who' as THE longest running AND biggest scince fiction show in the history of the planet!), start with the 'new' series (2005) staring Christopher Eccleston. It starts off at a point where everything is 'fresh and new', and the character is re-introduced to a new audience who isn't necessarily familiar with 'Doctor Who' cannon.

I'm a big Doctor Who fan, the new series more then the early versions. Christopher Eccleston is my favourite one out of the bunch. Funny, energetic, and a bit of a goofball. I wasn't really sure about Matt Smith at first (mainly because of the Emo hair XD), but I have to admit he is great as the good doctor. Can't wait to see more of the new season.
@wolverinesfury- Don't feel to bad about being alittle behind in the new season... It's the same for me up here in Canada. By the way, I loved that part of the season opener aswell.
@Upupandaway- Are you kidding me? Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) is HOT and entertaining. She has to be one of my favourites... next to Rose Tylor (Billie Piper). ;)

Ah Doctor Who fans... Anyone else think Karen Gillan would make a good Jean Grey for X-men first class?? She's a hot red-head and good actress? And she's done american accents before. What do you think?
