In the video above, Benicio Del Toro (who will play the villain in Star Wars: Episode VIII), sat down with Empire and revealed what he thinks director Rian Johnson will bring to the Star Wars franchise. "He’s [going to] bring a cool, sci-fi realism, if I may say that. I love his film Looper, and I just like talking to him about the film." He then continued, and said that Johnson will infuse the next film with "steroids". "He’s one of those new talented people that Star Wars is hiring to infuse the franchise with new steroids." Let's hope he does just that.

Anyhow, Star Wars: Episode VIII will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, and is set to hit theaters May 26, 2017. What do you think about this news? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

r some reason, Sicario was just a slow burn bore in my opinion. I didn't resonate with it at all. The only thing I liked was the direction by Villnueve and gorgeous cinematography by Deakins

I'm honestly quite disappointed that JJ isn't coming back for Episode VII.

Yeah, I'm surprised/curious why Abrams is only directing one Star Wars film.

When Abrams joined Star Wars I assumed he'd direct an entire trilogy or he'd be to the Star Wars franchise what Snyder is to the DCEU. Meaning, Abrams would direct multiple SW films and help develop the overall story & produce all other SW films too.

It seems Abrams might be take more of a Feige-type role with the Star Wars franchise, doing more behind the scenes stuff & overseeing all the films.
