As expected, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has now passed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just days after topping $1 billion worldwide. As of yesterday, the Rian Johnson helmed sequel has earned $533 million in North America, a figure only slightly higher than the $532.17 million made by Rogue One during its entire run (which it will obviously surpass to an even greater extent over the next few weeks).

Globally, The Last Jedi has made $1,056,389,228. Rogue One, on the other hand, made a total of $1,056,057,273, $300,000 less than what The Force Awakens sequel has earned in just 17 days or so.

Interestingly, the $533 million made by The Last Jedi domestically is significantly less than what The Force Awakens did in the same amount of time back in 2015 ($742 million). To be fair, though, this follow-up was never going to do as well as its predecessor because J.J. Abrams' movie was a true event with a lot of buzz surrounding it because it was the first Star Wars movie in a very long time.

Now, analysts believe that The Last Jedi will ultimately end up with a total haul of $1.6 billion. That's a fantastic result and it's already 2017's biggest movie. As a result, don't expect Disney and Lucasfilm to fire Johnson from that planned trilogy (which is something some fans seriously believe will happen).
