Though Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow was originally slated to write and direct the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX , he was let go from the project back in September 2017. Since then the director has remained tight-lipped about the whole ordeal, revealing that he doesn't want to impact the way fans experience the final chapter of this sequel trilogy releasing in December next year.

In a new interview with Uproxx, however, Trevorrow spoke briefly about his departing the project when asked if the repsonse to The Book of Henry, which was being torn apart by critics at the time, had anything to do with his removal from Star Wars Episode IX.

You know, I don’t know. I mean, I can’t really speculate on it. I’ll tell you that the reaction to Book of Henry was far more damaging than the actual movie. And I don’t mean specifically at Lucasfilm. I mean, that was a very acidic situation. And, look, every director who has worked in Lucasfilm put their heart and soul into the job and they left it all on the field, and the bottom line here is that sometimes creative people can’t find a shared path through the woods.

This "shared path through the woods" is likely in reference to what many believe to be the real reason Trevorrow was dismissed - the script. According to reports, Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly turned in a script that neither they nor LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy were all too happy with, Kennedy then brought in BAFTA winning Jack Thorne to do re-writes which the group were still frustrated by, leading to Trevorrow's dismissal and the hiring of JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio.

Creative differences are often used as a cover in Hollywood for other behind-the-scenes drama and while we can't be sure that The Book of Henry or any other number of rumored factors didn't contribute to Colin Trevorrow stepping down, it certainly seems that this time "creative differences" may have been just that.

What do you think? Were you sad to see Trevorrow go? Did you see The Book of Henry? What do you want for Episode IX? Leave your thoughts below.
