Defending Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

Yes the movie deserves all the hate it receives. The characters have no actual character to them because you can't describe the characters beyond a word or two and what they look like and their jobs. The movie has no real target audience it is going for because it is to kiddy and annoying most of the time for the adults i.e. Jar Jar and far too boring and monotonous for children i.e. all the Senate scenes and the Jedi Council scenes. Even George Lucas admitted so in the documentary that the ending to the movie is a complete mess with 4 major action end pieces going on at the same time. The Gungan battle, the space battle, the assault on the castle, and the Jedi fight that is far too many scenes to be happening all at once. There are exactly two cool scenes in the movie, the pod race and the battle with Darth Maul and they completely waste Darth Maul here.

Yet in the end Star Wars 1 is not the worst movie in the series Star Wars 2 is by far a much much worst movie. So much wrong with the movie. The dialogue is absolutely atrocious in the movie especially all of Anakin's dialogue. The characters do nothing but talk to one another the entire film completely missing the point of film with show don't tell. Everywhere is just CGI with giant empty CGI backgrounds that you can tell the characters are just standing in front of green screens, and finally the last battle that really kind of ruins Yoda as a character with that stupid end fight. Yoda was the mystical spiritual character that we did not really know in the original movies and much like the Emperor he was this powerful force user who did not use a lightsaber. The Emperor actually looked down on lightsabers calling them a Jedi weapon because he was so powerful with the force he did not need them and Yoda I feel was much that same way. Yet in that movie we had jumping back flipping Yoda with his ridiculous little lightsaber. That movie was the worst.

This is a long in depth review on how bad this movie is and easily shows why the prequels are bad. He does the other two prequels as well and they are all long and go through every single reason these movies are in fact bad.

I've just rewatched all 6 films the past couple weeks, and I never saw the hate on the Phantom Menace, UNTIL NOW.

The Trade Federation is soooo boring, and the Naboo officials are super boring too.
Young Anikan is a terrible actor
Jar Jar Binks is terrible
I don't like the overuse of CGI

Only cool character is really Darth Maul, and they kill him off! (watching clone wars for the first time, so ready to see him back in action)
