There was speculation that we might see the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi today, and while it is said to be imminent (it might even debut later tonight during Disney's shareholder meeting), we'll have to make do with some first-look stills and EW's final print cover featuring Ewan McGregor as the legendary Jedi Master!
The images feature Kenobi in several locations on - and off - Tatooine, the returning Joel Edgerton as Luke Skywalker's "Uncle" Owen Lars, and Moses Ingram as Reva, the first ever live-action Inquisitor. The Queen's Gambit star's character is described as "a formidable new foe who seeks out Jedi-in-hiding for the Empire."
We also have confirmation that Obi-Wan will leave Tatooine, as one of the stills shows the exiled force-wielder on a new planet known as Daiyu. " [It] sort of has a Hong Kong feel to it," says writer Joby Harold. "It's got a graffiti-ridden nightlife, and is kind of edgy. It's just got a different lane and a different feeling."
Check out the cover and some stills below, and head on over to SFFGazette.com to see the rest.
Specific plot details are under wraps, but we do know that Obi-Wan will be set between the events of Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope. There are also rumors that younger versions of both Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa will appear, but that's yet to be confirmed.
McGregor and Hayden Christensen (Darth Vader) will be joined by Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
The Mandalorian director Deborah Chow is set to helm all episodes of the series, with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on board as producer along-with Chow, Jason D. McGatlin (The Rise of Skywalker), Tracey Seaward (The Queen), and John Swartz (Rogue One).
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25th.
