Plastic Galaxy: The Making of Star Wars Toys Teaser Trailer

Many thought George Lucas a fool to take merchandise and sequel rights in lieu of a higher payment for Star Wars, but by 1978 it became obvious that it was actually a shrewd move that would ultimately turn Lucas into a multi-billionaire. What follows is a teaser trailer for a documentary devoted to those toys, Plastic Galaxy.

I got to get this DVD, brings back memories of the good ole' days before the prequels and the soul-less crafted toys of today. Boba Fett figurine FTW!

I have come to the recent realization that Georege Lucas's intention was to always make money from toys and not movies, this I strongly believe was his plan all along. The ONLY reason he made prequels to the original movies was not to tell a story but to lure a new generation into buying his products.

I guarantee if any more movies are to be made they will only be made in around 30 years as any film production before then would be a waste of time and money for Lucas as he has no need to generate any major advertising campaign for that amount of time as his current consumers are more than happy to provide him his billion dollar income for the next 3 decades without any further extreme brainwashing.

I remember Christmas morning and getting the X-wing fighter. Then the day after when I took it apart and my Dad gave me a beating I have not forgotten.

Hell I still have star wars toys never even taken out of the packaging. The collector in me won out over the boy in me years ago.

I always wanted an AT-AT walker.

@Number21 - lol!

@hoodedjester - I wanted an AT-AT also but never got one :(

I remember the Christmas after ROTJ opened. My Star Wars take was approximately 30 action figures from the various movies as well as the Ewok village, a speeder bike and a C-3PO storage case. Ah, to be a kid again :)
