Audiences were shocked when Supreme Leader Snoke was killed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As it turns out, the man who plays Snoke was pretty surprised by the twist as well. In an interview with Ben Pearson of /Film during the Black Panther promotional tour, Serkis was asked about his reaction to his character's death, and said the following:

"I was shocked. Dramatically, it felt absolutely right for that moment in the film, so I didn’t question it. I just think it’s a very, very important scene, so I didn’t question it."

With all the secrecy and fan theories surrounding Supreme Leader Snoke, many fans were disappointed to see the character not make it through the second chapter in the trilogy. This has some theorists believing that the Supreme Leader will return in Episode IX.

Serkis says he has not met with J.J. Abrams yet to talk about a potential return for his character, but his answer seems to indicate that a return is not completely out of the question. Serkis went on to say:

"But I do, I know it’s left fans feeling like, that they were really searching for something there. And what I’m saying is, who knows?"

Since Star Wars has a history of making life and death a matter of ambiguity, particularly for Force users, anything is possible. Of course, a dark side Force ghost is something we haven't seen in the movies yet, so bringing Snoke back this way would be very different from established canon.

@SeeingGreen - i think non of them like. They are the other apprentices who left with Ben and if i recall rigt, in another interview someone hinted that one of them is stronger than Kylo.

@Poochie @SeeingGreen - Maybe one of the knights is one of Snoke's other apprentices

@MalseMarcel - Maybe it was just snoke's force ghost lol

Iono about 9, JJ Abrams films are too catered towards fans. I liked 8 more than 7 because it was bold and different.

It was a great moment

I don’t get why people are caught up about it. Snoke was just an evil guy who’s purpose is to develop the main villain similar to the Emperor in the OT.

Except instead of turning good, Kylo is Supreme Leader

@LEVITIKUZ - What you're saying is, we just shouldnt care about anything? Way ahead of you now. I dont care. The Last Jedi did that for me. I can be like Luke and give up on it all!

Snoke and Luke will battle as force ghosts.

He was obviously a fig-person. Made of fig. That's why he looks like one.

He'll force-resurrect himself. Because, why not, right? Anything is possible, nothing has to make sense.
