STAR WARS: New Details On Daisy Ridley's Rey-Led Movie Revealed

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has shared some new details on the untitled Star Wars movie that'll feature the return of Daisy Ridley as the sequel trilogy's lead, Rey Skywalker(?)...

Arguably the biggest news to come out of Star Wars Celebration Europe over Easter weekend was the Announcement that Daisy Ridley will reprise the role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The untitled project is being written by Steven Knight, and will pick up with Rey as a Jedi Master 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. We were also told that the fan-favorite force-wielder would be running a new academy, but it sounds like the Jedi have not been having an easy time of things since Rey set about rebuilding the order.

While speaking to IGN, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy shared some new details on the story.

“Well we’re 15 years out from Rise of Skywalker, so we’re post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray,” Kennedy confirmed. “There’s a lot of discussion around, ‘Who are the Jedi? What are they doing? What’s the state of the galaxy?’ She’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order, based on the books, based on what she promised Luke, so that’s where we’re going.”

Speaking of Master Skywalker, what are the chances of Mark Hamill returning as a Force Ghost?

“I don’t know if we’ll spend a lot of time in flashbacks or [on] Force ghosts or things like that, but certainly, the spirit of what he represents to her is going to be significant.”

It would seem like a major missed opportunity not to get Hamill back for at least one scene, but whether the actor would even be interested in returning (he's not been shy about criticising certain decisions in The Last Jedi) is another matter.

Two other Star Wars films were confirmed during SWC, with The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni set to helm a tale set in the New Republic timeline that serves as a culmination of the various Disney+ shows. Plus, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold's project will tell the story of the first Jedi to ever wield the Force!

How do you guys feel about Rey's return? Do you think the 15-year gap is a good idea? Drop us a comment down below.

@KaptainKhaos - I hated the last trilogy. But this seems to be a good starting point for a new one.
It even sounds like what episode 7 should have been.

@Usernametaken - Rey was one of the only decent parts of that trilogy, but we should be getting a Babu Frik movie. Dammit Disney.

@ObserverIO - Honestly, episode 7 should always be about a different hero.
Luke's trilogy is already done and over.

This movie has potential to be fantastic.

The little girls and boys who watched this character will have grown up now and they will be ready.

As will I.
