STAR WARS REBELS And STAR WARS: LEIA, PRINCESS OF ALDERAAN Manga Titles Coming From Yen Press

Those who enjoy visiting the galaxy far, far away will be thrilled to learn that they will be able to continue to do so in manga form with two new releases this year. With the recent announcement from Yen Press that they have acquired Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan, we know what's to come for 2020.

The story of the Star Wars Rebels animated series was adapted for this new manga release so that fans of the show will be able to explore a time when the Galactic Empire was hunting down all of the remaining Jedi. Akira Aoki pulls double duty on the series, handling both the story and art.

With the second title focusing on Leia Organa, the two books are obviously vastly different. Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan follows the popular princess and explores the story of how she comes to join the rebellion to face the Empire. Claudia Gray is the author and is adapting the story from her own Young Adult novel. The art, meanwhile, is by Haruichi Furudate (Haikyu), an accomplished and established manga contributor, so those familiar with the medium should look forward to the new title.

What do you think of these new titles? Will you be checking out Star Wars Rebels or Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan? Check out the cover art and synopses below and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Star-Wars-Rebels-1

Set during an era when the Galactic Empire is hunting down the last of the Jedi, a fledgling rebellion against the Empire begins to take form.

Star Wars Rebels takes place in the area surrounding the planet Lothal, where the Galactic Empire battles against Ezra, a teenage con artist with latent Force abilities, Kanan, one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order, and the rest of the ragtag rebels on board the starship Ghost.

Star-Wars-Leia-1-1

A young Princess Leia spends her days learning the ways of politics, aiding those in need and preparing for the traditional ceremony in which she declares her intention to one day rule Alderaan. But as Leia prepares herself to be named the heir of the throne, she becomes aware of the growing distance between her and her parents, who behind closed doors are leaders of the newly-formed Rebellion.

Upon learning her parents’ secrets, Leia must now make a choice between her responsibility to the people of Alderaan and her responsibility to save a galaxy crushed by the rule of the Empire.

Star Wars: Leia, Princess of Alderaan and Star Wars Rebels will both be available from Yen Press later this year.

@marvel72 - The author is a woman who is adapting a YA novel. You can also see in the cover that she is covered up with a fairly flat chest.

@marvel72 - Hahaha. I've been reading too much manga lately and I hate fan service so I have to back the respectable women when they're included!
