In honor of May The Fourth Be With You I'm going back and ranking all the Star Wars movies from worst to best.

7. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Now look I am aware that most people love the prequels but....OH BOY! This is a piece of shit! The romance between Padme and Anakin as well as their dialogue is atrocious to say the least. Hayden Christensen was a terrible choice for Anakin Skywalker and nothing about him screams Darth Vader because he is just a whiney little prick. Also, the CGI in the prequels (save for Revenge of the Sith) do not hold up because it's so damn cartoony. And the movie is long and really boring. Yes this movie has less Jar Jar but at least The Phantom Menace didn't have terrible romance dialogue. The main positives I can say about this movie is Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, the action sequences are entertaining, and the score by John Williams is pretty damn good.
6. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are interchangable for me but Attack of the Clones is probably worse in my opinion. The visuals at the time may have been groundbreaking but they don't hold up that well especially Jar Jar Binks who is by far one of the worst things about the prequels. Jake Lloyd as young Anakin is atrocious and terrible as well as most of the acting in this movie. Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor are good in the movie, the score by John Williams is pretty good, and the action is entertaining especially the Darth Maul Lightsaber fight scene even though they completely waste Darth Maul at the end of the movie.
5. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
I talked a lot of crap about The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones but to be honest I actually enjoy Revenge of the Sith. Even if anyone doesn't like the movie I think everyone can agree this is by far the best of the prequels even though it's not a perfect movie. The CGI in this movie is better than the CGI in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. The writing and acting is especially better even though there are some terrible lines of dialogue especially "NOOOOOOOOOO!" at the end on the movie. But all in all, I enjoyed this movie because it's the movie where we finally see Anakin become Darth Vader even though I didn't like him murdering children and the fact that the prequels did screw up the timeline.
4. Return of the Jedi
I love this movie and I think it gets criticized too much even though it is the weakest in the original trilogy. A lot of people the ewoks crap and I can understand why but they're cute in all honesty. The action set pieces particularly the Sarlacc battle sequence, the speeder bike chase on the Endor moon, the space battle between Rebel and Imperial pilots, and Luke Skywalker's duel against Darth Vader are great. Even though this completely wasted Boba Fett and the fight between the Ewoks and the stormtroopers was pretty stupid I will give you that. But this movie is still one of the best third installments in film and it was redemption of Darth Vader turning to the good side before he died.
3. Star Wars
Ahhh the one that started it all, Star Wars and I'm not calling it A New Hope. This is a historical film and at the time no one thought this movie would work because of production problems. It introduced every beloved character in the franchise including Han Solo was one of the coolest characters ever put on film (WHO DID SHOOT FIRST). The special effects still hold up and Darth Vader is one of the best villain ever put on film behind Heath Ledger's Joker. I know I'm bringing up the score by Johns Williams too much but it so iconic, it is my second favorite soundtrack behind the Jurassic Park soundtrack. It also launched an industry of media tie-in products, including TV series spinoffs, novels, comic books, and video games, as well as various other merchandise, such as toys, games, clothing, and other paraphernalia. This movie is special for many reasons despite the fact George Lucas changed a lot of things in the original trilogy.
2. The Empire Strikes Back
At the time The Empire Strikes Back received mixed reviews but went on to be considered the best Star Wars movie and one of the greatest movies of all time. I love this movie and I do think it's the best in the original trilogy because it raised the bar in the franchise and it is definitely the darkest of the Star Wars movie for sure. This movie also introduced Lando and Boba Fett as well as a tease for Emperor Palpatine. Most people give Lando crap for betraying his friends even though we didn't see what happened and maybe Darth Vader made him do it. The visual effects and the costume design still hold up and the score by John Williams is great. It also has one of the best moments/twists in film of all time where Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker that he is his father. The movie also ends on a low note which with Han Solo frozen and being taken to Jabba the Hutt, Luke with his arm cut off, and Luke, Leia, R2-D2, and C-3PO looking on at the galaxy in the Millennium Falcon.
1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Star Wars: The Force Awakens for me is amazing and don't get me wrong, I LOVE the original trilogy. But this was the movie that made Star Wars great again and it was able to capture the magic of the original trilogy while adding new things. Daisy Ridley (who I am in love with) and John Boyega have great careers ahead of them. Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron is so damn likeable and I can't believe Oscar Isaac is going to be Apocalypse because of how likeable he was in this movie. I loved seeing Han Solo and Chewbacca back on the big screen. The action is entertaining and I love the score especially Rey's theme. I personally Kylo Ren is one of the best villains of all time. All in all, I love this movie and it's personally my favorite Star Wars movie.

Anyways, that is my ranking for all the Star Wars movie so let me know yours and....MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU! Always!

Force Awakens and New Hope need to be 2 and 2a since they're the same movie.

Agree with every position.

I didn't grow up with Star Wars, so the originals I didn't see until I was older. I think they're great, but without the nostalgia attached, they aren't a personal favourite of mine (FULL RESPECT to them though, and they are masterpieces, this is just my preference)

The prequels I find very boring. Episode III had some moments though.

But I was fully engaged from start to finish with Episode VII, I thought it was brilliant.

I would honestly go with:

7) Attack of the Clones
6) Phantom Menace
5) Star Wars
4) Revenge of the Sith
3) The Force Awakens
2) Return of the Jedi
1) The Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars may be a very nostalgic movie, but if you really look into it - it's honestly not that good of a film. The editing is choppy and the acting really corny. There don't really seem to be any consequences - like Luke mourns more for Obi-Wan than his Aunt & Uncle, that lightsaber fight is such shit in retrospect. The only real saving grace of this movie are the performances.
