The STAR WARS Saga Gets The Blu-ray Steelbook Treatment This November

As we all prepare for Force to awaken this December, StarWars.com has announced that the six previous films in the saga will be re-released one month before in the form of these admittedly rather lovely new Blu-ray Steelbooks. All will be available for a limited time on November 10, with pre-orders beginning on August 7.

The new character packaging features Darth Maul for The Phantom Menace, Yoda for Attack of the Clones, General Grievous for Revenge of the Sith, Darth Vader for A New Hope, an Imperial stormtrooper for The Empire Strikes Back, and Emperor Palpatine for Return of the Jedi. They sure do like their bad guys! Star Wars: The Complete Saga will also be released in newly-repackaged artwork on October 13.

Those hoping for something new in the way of bonus content will be disappointed, though each disc does feature existing audio commentary from George Lucas and the film crew, as well as audio commentary from archival interviews with the cast and crew. The Complete Saga includes three additional discs containing more than 40 hours of previously-released extensive special features.

I'm sure these are the "special" editions so NO. I'll wait until I can get the original versions or I'll just keep watching my Laser Discs®

Kind of odd that they chose Yoda instead of Count Dooku for Ep 2. Should have just gone completely dark.

Goooood...Gooood. I love the artwork, but this is far from the complete saga. We still have 3 more films to go. It still doesn't make the Prequels any better.

They should of added the original trilogy untouched, then everyone would have bought this set.

I will just wait until Episodes VII-IX are released as well.

4. Ghost jedi scene (no Hayden crap!!!).

@Ayush, yeah, they should have used Count Dooku, instead of Yoda, that is weird. Hell, even Jango Fett would have been better than Yoda.

Are all the Blue Ray releases the newer extended editions? Cause I was thinking of picking up the three packs that are in stores now, but it doesn't say original theatrical release or extended on the back. I would rather types this out here than do a simple Google search. :)

any rumours of the clone wars saga getting repackaged to include season six on blue ray?

You know what, I tried so hard to wait for the price of the blu-ray saga price to drop before I bought it.... But couldn't, I won't succumb to these.

Return of the Jedi has the best case anyway

Nice going Disney, all villains except one. What were you thinking? Yoda for Count Dooku now.

Seriously, Yoda makes little sense given the general direction they went with with those steelbooks. Needs to be this guy:

I really didn't care for him... :(

General Grievous would have been a much greater character and villain if the prequels had been structured better and he was introduced in Episode I instead of just having a few scenes between his introduction and death.

Yoda in the "attack of the clones" one looks less CGI'd than in the actual movie

Lame. Just release the original trilogy as they were from 1977-1983.

I think after seeing The Clone Wars animated series, if they would have gone that route with the prequels, they would have been much better received. By no means do I hate the prequels as some profess on here, but there definitely could have been some changes to them to make them better. The CGI, especially in Ep2 was just too much. And to be perfectly honest, I have no issues with the originals being 'cleaned up'. I just think the content shouldn't be changed. I'm still dodging these Bluray releases until they are cheaper and I KNOW it will not outdated because of 'corrections' in the next release.

Beautiful covers. But will probably pick them all after TFA is released on blu-ray.
MrBurns
MrBurns - 8/5/2015, 8:14 AM
Really, really, really weird they didn't put Count Dooku on Episode 2. (Even Jango Fett or a Droid from the Droid Army would have been better).

But they definitely should have gone with Dooku, especially since Christopher Lee is a legend (and deserves to be honoured) and he just...recently passed away. RIP.

I can't believe they didn't take the opportunity to do this. Idiots! Morons! Fools! Delinquents!

This new packaging dosen't make the prequels any less shitty.
