Why Avatar Cannot be Beat

Why Avatar Cannot be Beat

Let's face it, Jurassic World could not do it, Star Wars will not do it and Neither will Batman v Superman.

Remember when Avatar came out and everyone was like it's the shit? Then one week later everyone was watching it? Remember? I do. Remember how they were talking about how great the computer generated imagery is, how great the story was, how good a message it gives and all that. Remember people discussing how amazing it was. Remember how long it stayed in theatres? Remember how much money it made? We all do, because it is in the comments section of every Star Wars article.

Everyone is like I hope Star Wars beats it! Star Wars is going to beat it! Star Wars is amazing! First of all, yes, Star Wars is amazing - but so was The Phantom Menace when it came out. I hope to God I don't have to act like I disliked this movie a few years from now. However, guys, it is not going to beat Avatar and that is a fact.

How long was Avatar in theatres for? Tell me? Thirty-four weeks. How long is that? Eight and a half months. Imagine that. Star Wars is not staying in theatres eight and a half months. It is surely not staying seven weeks on top like Avatar did. I would love for it to make as much money as possible, but let's face it, what came out in January 2010 that could challenge Avatar? The Book of Eli? Nothing. What about February 2010? The Wolfman? Percy Jackson? Cop Out? Answer, only bullets that could dent the armour. It was only in March 2010 that, wait for it, Alice in Wonderland came out. Even then it did not stop drawing money.

So tell me, what is coming out in January 2016 that could challenge Star Wars? Nothing, FrozenJoy would defiantly tell me! Well, actually, there is one. Only one, but a big one at that. Kung Fu Panda 3, whose prequel grossed a hell of a lot of money. Not Star Wars numbers, no, but high enough to potentially topple Star Wars. Then in February you have two big movies that could topple Star Wars if Po doesn't. You have Deadpool, which being Rated-R, has the least chance of doing it but enough to make a big dent. Then, though, you have Ben Stiller in Zoolander 2 which has an amazing chance of doing it. Okay, but what if those fail to dethrone Star Wars? They very well might. Well, then Star Wars continues on into March just like Avatar did!

Well, guess what. Star Wars staying on top until the end of January could actually hurt Disney themselves. They have The Finest Hours coming out at the end of January and it needs to make quite a bit of money to be a profit, that is if Kung Fu Panda 3 allows it, which is if Star Wars in turn allows it. Get it? Oh, and if Star Wars does continue on dominant into March, it'll be hurt severely by Zootopia, which will undoubtedly decrown it. Yes, but you say Avatar still went on after that. True, it did, but Avatar did not have a movie in the same franchise coming out the year after. Yeah, Rogue One may be coming in December, but The Force Awakens will be long gone by then. Not a month away from December like Avatar was when it finished.

Oh, and if Star Wars: The Force Awakens cannot beat Avatar? Neither will Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Captain America: Civil War. I can't speak for Episode 8... yet.
