DC/Warner Bros. premiered their animated film SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY at Comic Con on July 26. Based on the comic book event the Death of Superman the film begins in a world where Superman and Lois Lane are in a relationship and Lex Luthor is up to some devious deeds. Lex unwittingly unleashes the evil, destructive, vicious and cruel fighting creature known as Doomsday. Three years of comic book continuity is wrapped up in one film and the big change is in this world Superman is the only hero battling against Doomsday. The story does continue on with Superman’s return and Lex trying to clone a Superman all his own. There are big intense battles and the film is appropriately rated PG-13.

SUPERMAN DOOMSDAY used an updated style from the Superman Animated Series and features new voice talent that includes; Adam Baldwin as Superman, Anne Heche as Lois Lane and James Marsters as Lex Luthor.

The film was great, being a Superman fan I was hooked. At first I was a bit weary about the animation style, when it comes to the Death of Superman Style I think more of the comic book style than the Superman Animated series. As the movie continued I just found myself getting wrapped up in the story itself and into the action. Doomsday was ferocious and nasty. Watching him fight Superman was awesome. All the fights in the film are great.

I really think Bruce Timm did an excellent job of adapting the story, this is a good way to get more people interested in going back and reading the actual comics. DC is going to be doing more animated films and after seeing this film I’m excited for what’s coming next.
