Jurassic World fatigue is real. After Dominion underperformed compared to its predecessors, audiences might not rush back, especially if the new cast doesn’t generate immediate excitement. The trailer didn't exactly set the internet ablaze. The audience reception will be much lower than the previous three Chris Pratt film entries, and $185 million feels fair for a franchise that might need a fresh spark.
Superman as the king of the summer? James Gunn’s involvement alone has fans buzzing, and with DC resetting its universe, Superman is carrying the weight of all that hope and excitement. $233 million might be ambitious, but if any hero can pull it off, it's the Man of Steel. Plus, it’s been a while since Superman had his moment—anticipation is through the roof. Superman also defeated the Fantastic Four in the first 24 hours with trailer views and audience reception.
Fantastic Four being affected by Captain America: Brave New World's negative reviews and less than stellar audience reception. Brave New World didn't land well with fans. This could very much lead to a ripple effect, making audiences hesitant about another MCU entry. $145 million feels realistic for First Steps, especially if Marvel doesn’t recover its momentum by then. And with THUNDERBOLTS* coming not long after, which also will most likely receive negative reviews, Fantastic Four will definitely struggle to regain the hype.
I think Superman will open with an outstanding $233 million; which becomes the biggest debut ever for a DC movie, the biggest entry for a Superman film, and ultimately gives Superman the King of the Summer title.
