Updates On Marvel's TV Slate; Are We Going To See 'Blade', 'Ghost Rider' And 'Punisher'?

A new report claims to shed some light on Marvel's TV plans, and it sounds like everything from a Hulk prequel to various Netflix spinoffs are in the works! Meanwhile, Marvel movie stars might be heading to the small screen...and does Kevin Feige hate Marvel TV?!

Heroic Hollywood has a piece up looking at Marvel's TV future, and while much of it appears to be speculative, there are definitely some interesting titbits in there. For example, they point out that some studio execs and writers view the small screen portion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as something of a burden, with Kevin Feige looking down on that side of things, but accepting it as a "necessary evil" because it's what Disney demands. That actually makes an awful lot of sense, and Feige's lack of involvement with the TV side of Marvel's output became apparent when he revealed that he hadn't yet watched Daredevil during promotion for Avengers: Age of Ultron

They go on to add that the likes of Cloak and Dagger, Ms. Marvel, and a Hulk prequel are all in development at ABC, and confirm that Elektra is indeed coming to Daredevil next year. There's apparently been talk of adding Blade, Ghost Rider, and Punisher to Netflix, but it seems they're unsure whether the characters could hold their own in  TV show. Finally, it sounds like those rumours about Marvel wanting Doctor Strange to appear in The Defenders is true, while Netflix are said to be keen on a movie or mini series starring characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye.

Again, much of this sounds speculative, so don't get too excited about anything here just yet. There's definitely a lot to think about here though, so share your thoughts in the usual place!

There should be no rush to put shows out there. Spread this out through a couple decades I would say.

Cloak and Dagger would be a fantastic Netflix series,
they could fit nicely into the second phase of The Defenders, they're very "street level heroes".

I can't see Scarlett Johansson putting her prosperous movie career on hold to do a Netflix series.

Shooooot, Blade and Punisher are capable of juggling 2 seasons each. Ghost Rider could easily be redemptive as well.

@Nomis

I was JUST thinking about that! Not the grey part, but the idea of a Hulk prequel. I'd love to see some of Hulk pre-TIH. Maybe get to see that suicide scene Ruffalo was talking about where he put the bullet in his mouth and the other guy spits it out. (I know it was originally in TIH, but that was a deleted scene and it's Edward Norton so...)

Really hoping Punisher shows up, could fit perfectly into Daredevil season 2

"Elektra is indeed coming to Daredevil next season...."

Punisher would be a great fit for the Daredevil series.

Punisher began as an Anti-Hero/villain to Spider-Man. He existed to play off Spider-Man's morality. He would work just as well with Daredevil as the Man Without Fear is always walking the edge of becoming who the Punisher is. He would be able to play off Frank Castle nicely and perhaps tempt him towards a darker path.

He would also be more at home there. Especially seeing as with a TV-MA rating they don't need to pull any punches with him.

Feige hadn't seen Daredevil yet because I doubt he had 13 hours of free time to sit down and watch it. He's a busy guy. I'm sure he's interested in seeing the show.

A Black Widow TV movie doesn't have to star Scarlett. It could be a prequel set in the Cold War with another woman entirely.

Natasha wasn't the only Black Widow y'know.

Matt Fraction's Hawkeye as a Netflix show would be perfect. Would love to see Widow get a movie based on her current series.

Also Punisher would be a rad antagonist for Daredevil Season 2

LMAO@LEVITIKUZ

And sorry, Kevin Feige, but any 1 hour of Daredevil beats the disappointment that was AoU.

Punisher would definitely hold his own! I hope Marvel/Disney/Netflix make it happen. I'd be up for Black Widow and Hawkeye on the small screen. Would have to probably re-cast and have those pre-quells as well?

All of this is false, shit we know, or pure fanboy guesses.

been talk of adding Blade, Ghost Rider, and Punisher to Netflix,

You mean like how every fan has speculated since Daredevil was announced for Netflix?

confirm that Elektra is indeed coming to Daredevil next year

Wonder where you got that confirmed? The audition tapes that were leaked online?

the likes of Cloak and Dagger, Ms. Marvel, and a Hulk prequel are all in development at ABC

Don't know who Cloak and Dagger is, doubt Ms Marvel will make it. Hell if Carol is Captain Marvel, that means that new girl would be the show's Ms Marvel and I don't see a TV budget doing her justice.

And last but not least, I seriously doubt Marvel and ABC would turn down Del Toro's Hulk show and do one on their on. I seriously doubt they wouldn't have maybe have him do it as a prequel. He said he will respect the connected DC universe with Dark Universe so why wouldn't he for Hulk?

Marvel wanting Doctor Strange to appear in The Defenders

You mean like how Strange did in the comics?

Netflix are said to be keen on a movie or mini series starring characters like Black Widow and Hawkeye.

Renner maybe, no way Scarlet would do a Netflix show or movie.

Headline poses question as if there is a definitive answer:
"Are We Going To See 'Blade', 'Ghost Rider' And 'Punisher'?"

Post admits there is no definitive answer:
"Again, much of this sounds speculative, so don't get too excited about anything here just yet."

Misleading headlines are strong with this one!

Literally all of those rumors are popular fan speculation or stuff that's been reported before. Cloak and Dagger has been in development hell for years, as has the proposed Hulk TV show, and the rumor about a Ms. Marvel show was started only a few months ago.

Come on now, people!

Cloak and Dagger would work well in the Netflix series world. Or if they wanted it to be an ABC show that would be cool. Their powers could work on a TV budget I think. I can't imagine a good Ghost Rider show done on a TV budget though. It would be one of those things where we see three minutes of the Rider an episode and a whole lot of Johnny Blaze and he would fight a bunch of human-looking demons. Blade could work but it would be really real because he wouldn't fit with all the other heroes and their street level world. Punisher (and Moon Knight) would obviously work incredibly well on Netflix so I don't know what the hold up would be. Ms. Marvel would be cool but not until after the Captain Marvel movie. I don't even know what a Hulk prequel is. Just a scientist working with the US government? I've always wanted a Black Widow solo movie so I guess a mini-series would be better than nothing. But please keep Dr. Strange far away from the Defenders; Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist seem like the could have such a great and unique from the greater MCU dynamic.
