VisionQuest Rumored To Lay The Groundwork For Adaptation Of Avengers: The Children's Crusade - Spoilers

It sounds like VisionQuest may prove to be a lot more important to the MCU's future than we realized, as the show is rumored to serve as a lead-in to an adaptation of Avengers: The Children's Crusade...

As we know, next month's VisionQuest will conclude a trilogy of shows that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along, but it seems the Vision-focused series will also lay the groundwork for a much larger-scale MCU event down the line.

According to Feature First, VisionQuest "won’t connect to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe but serves as a starting point for a new story, one that will loosely adapt the legendary comic run: Avengers: The Children’s Crusade."

Allan Heinberg’s 2010-2012 tale featured various characters from the Young Avengers, Avengers, and the X-Men, but primarily focused on Magneto helping Speed and Wiccan seek out their missing mother, the Scarlet Witch, when the latter's powers become unstable. Doctor Doom also factored into the story when it's revealed that the villain is engaged to the anmesiac Wanda.

Possible spoilers follow.

How exactly VisionQuest will tie into The Children's Crusade remains to be seen, but the site also claims that "a previous MCU character will make an appearance by the end of VisionQuest, serving as connective tissue for this upcoming plot."

We assume they're referring to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, but Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is also a possibility.

Will this be another Disney+ series or possibly even the next Avengers movie? It probably all depends on how closely the story is adapted, as it's difficult to imagine Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom, for example, showing up on the small screen.

In many ways, Marvel Studios tackling The Children's Crusade wouldn't be a major surprise, since several events (Wanda's supposed death at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wiccan leaving to look for his brother in Agatha All Along) seemed to signify that the MCU would be heading in this direction eventually.

"The Vision, rebooted and having escaped those who sought to use him as a weapon, has been in hiding," reads the show's synopsis. "His quest for new meaning and discreet existence is interrupted when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing Vision to forge real connections and embrace found family if he's to survive."

Star Paul Bettany revealed what excited him most about VisionQuest last year.

“One of the things that’s fun about that is that we finally get to see what it’s like inside Vision’s mind, and it’s more cluttered than you would think. He’s clearly been saving and copying and pasting [the AIs] to keep them alive inside his head. One of them, of course, has to be kept behind a pretty impressive firewall because he’s a psychopath. But he’s a clever one.”

This "psychopath" is almost certainly Ultron, but the Age of Ultron villain is far from the only AI character that'll factor into the story.

Emily Hampshire (Schitt's Creek, 12 Monkeys, The Rig) also joined the cast as a human version of E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I'm The Hero). This tech was created by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) before being passed on to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) following Iron Man's demise in Avengers: Endgame.

Kerry Condon was rumored to appear as F.R.I.D.A.Y. in human form, but we recently learned that Picard's Orla Brady will actually play the role. James D'Arcy will also be back as Edwin Jarvis in some capacity.

T’nia Miller (Foundation, The Fall of the House of Usher, La Fortuna) is set to play the Bride of Ultron, Jocasta, who is described as "cunning, powerful and driven by revenge."

Finally, Ruaridh Mollica's "Tucker" will be the vessel for Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed.

This would be very interesting for the big screen.

But not another sh!tty D+ show.

We don’t need another Secret Invasion level disaster.

This was one of those projects where I never thought I’d see it come to fruition. I’m curious to see how this turns out.
On another note:
What are the odds we see the Skrulls again?

@WruceBayne - I think we might but it won’t be for awhile

Honestly , I like them trying to give the Skrulls some nuance by not having them all be bad but it hasn’t been executed very strongly.

They need to push Agatha Harkness back into the Nanny role that she fulfilled in the comics.

VisionQuest leading into a adaptation of Children’s Crusade makes sense given the setup we have had so far from MoM & Agatha All Along so that would be cool if it happens…

Also this previous MCU character showing up at the end of VisionQuest is likely Wanda , Agatha or Billy but I think it would be cool if it’s Kamala trying to recruit Tommy into the Champions which will essentially be the Young Avengers which then sets up their involvement in this apparent adaptation but we’ll see!!.
