In these unordinary times, everything has changed, one of which is the entertainment industry. For some, production has been halted, for others, narratives have changed entirely. But in the case of Black Mirror showrunner Charlie Brooker, he is not even bothering to develop a sixth season of the flagship show at the moment.
During an interview with Radio Times, Brooker said this regarding the state of the show's next season: “I’ve been busy, doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing. At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on [another season of Black Mirror.]"
With the last season debuting on Netflix last summer, and the virus on everybody's minds right now, Brooker is in not rush to deliver more Black Mirror content right now and in the near future. Perhaps this is for the better, since the concensus has shown quality decline for the latest batch of episodes. But for now, it seems like audiences will just have to wait it out.
Black Mirror season 5 and the interactive special, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch are currently streaming on Netflix.
