As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, the Critics Choice Association Women's Committee has selected Ahsoka to receive the Seal of Female Empowerment in Entertainment.

Dubbed the "SOFEE," this seal "recognises outstanding new films and television series that illuminate the female experience and perspective through authentically told female-driven stories."

A numerical formula is used to determine if new titles are eligible to be recognised in this way, and the movies and TV shows which qualify must have a prominent female character arc, give female characters at least equal screen time to male characters, have female leaders behind the scenes, and pass elements highlighted in the Bechdel test.

To achieve this accolade, a movie to TV show must receive a score of at least 7/10, but Ahsoka landed a perfect 10/10.

The Disney+ series puts the spotlight on Ahsoka Tano, continuing her story from The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Sabine Wren has also been a huge part of the series, as has Hera Syndulla. Ahsoka also features two female villains, Morgan Elsbeth and Shin Hati.

Addressing the news, Carrie Beck, EVP, Live Action Development & Production, Lucasfilm said, "Thank you to the CCA for acknowledging 'Ahsoka' with this seal, and recognizing our incredibly dedicated and collaborative creative team."

The Critics Choice Association is the largest critics organization in the United States and Canada, representing more than 580 media critics and entertainment journalists. It was established in 2019 with the formal merger of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, recognizing the intersection between film, television, and streaming content.

Some will inevitably scoff at this, but it's a major achievement and a big step forward for diversity in a franchise that's often been primarily male-led.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

The first seven episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.

@Thing94 - It's not for you obviously. Just move it along and let those that DO appreciate it, appreciate it.

@Origame - You put way too much stock into cartoon satire. It's time to start having grown up conversations.

@Variant - lol, the stock I'm putting into it is making fun of you.

Don't blame me that your stance is ridiculous and easy to make fun of 🤣

@Origame - Please. Let's not sit here and pretend that all of your arguments are ignorant as hell. You're so easy to out-debate because your stances always lack maturity. I see your arguments get absolutely wrecked by so many members here on a regular basis. It's fvcking incredible you haven't learned anything by now. 😂

But yeah dude. Keep using cartoons to make your points.

Ok. Glad you're finally stopping 🤣

@Origame - *aren't

Obviously.

But yeah, pretty telling that the only response to this you have is pointing out a typo. You seriously have to grow up. You think catcalling is okay. You think the answer to racism is "color blindness". These, and all your other arguments, are incredibly ignorant. You have A LOT of learning to do.

@Variant - ...what else was there to say? Other than the obvious typo, all you were doing was an ad hominem.

Now you're giving some sh!t for me to actually respond to. I never said cat calling was ok. I said it was subjectively bad depending on what was said and how the woman responded. And I take my argument of color blindness from mlk who said "don't judge on the color of one's skin but by the content of their character". Really don't see how this mindset doesn't fix it. If someone murders because of racism, a color blind approach would still see that guy locked up.

@Origame - "don't judge on the color of one's skin but by the content of their character"

That's not color blindness. At all. Color blindness is IGNORING skin color. Which is the completely wrong way to go about it. You shouldn't have to pretend people aren't different. You should ACKNOWLEDGE everyone's unique characteristics and cultures and ACCEPT them.

I mean seriously, you're stance on this is very uneducated. Which is not ad hominem. It's an assessment of your argument's merit.
