In recent weeks, a lot of apparent spoilers for Lucasfilm's The Acolyte have begun to find their way online, including a report that Darth Plagueis could end up playing a role in the Disney+ series.
Set roughly one hundred years before the events of The Phantom Menace during what's been dubbed "The High Republic Era," the show looks set to reveal a very different side of the Star Wars Universe. Leslye Headland will serve as showrunner, of course, while there are even rumblings that Loki helmer Kate Herron will direct the series. Amandla Stenberg was recently tapped as The Acolyte's lead.
Updates have been sparse since, but we may know the source of these apparent leaks.
While we won't be sharing them here, a blog called Fulcrum Leaks (via SFFGazette.com) has recently been set up that has full breakdowns of the first and second episodes of the show. There's no way to verify whether these are genuine, but much of what's revealed lines up with what we've been hearing from other sources, so we'd bet on them being the real deal.
This blog even has details on the Tales of the Jedi animated series, and it's definitely a shock to see this much intel surface online so soon. Then again, the Star Wars franchise has always been something of a leaky ship during this Disney era, with the entire plot of The Rise of Skywalker available to read online months before the movie arrived in theaters.
As always, we can't help but wonder whether Lucasfilm themselves might have shared these details in an effort to gauge fan reaction to their plans for The Acolyte. Cameras haven't even started rolling yet, so only a very limited number of people would have access to these scripts this far in advance.
Who knows, but if you weren't already excited for The Acolyte, you probably should be. With any luck, some official details are going to be shared during Disney+ Day on September 8.
