THE CLONE WARS Star Shakira Barrera Reportedly Set To Reprise Role In Live-Action For AHSOKA

Bespin Bulletin (via SFF Gazette) is reporting that Shakira Barrera has been cast in Ahsoka. While her part is currently described as "undisclosed," we can hazard a good guess that she's taking on the role of Trace Martez, a close friend of Ahsoka Tano's who has previously appeared in The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch.

The Martez sisters were orphaned at a young age and befriended Ahsoka following her expulsion from the Jedi Order. They embarked on a few adventures together, including a battle with the Pyke Syndicate. Years later, they would help acquire technology for those resisting the Empire, and it makes perfect sense for Barrera to play an older version of the character.

Perhaps best known for starring in Netflix's GLOW and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it's also said that the actor has nabbed a part in Marvel Studios' Ironheart. We don't have any further details on that for now, though.

Ahsoka has started shooting and was recently confirmed for a 2023 premiere. Rosario Dawson will return as Ahsoka, while Hayden Christensen is expected to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker following his recent return in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Other casting additions include Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Ivanna Sakhno, Ray Stevenson, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The latter is indeed believed to be playing Hera Syndulla, though Lucasfilm has yet to share an official cast list. Hopefully, more Ahsoka details will be shared during Disney+ Day on September 8.
