The Mandalorian didn't waste any time in separating Din Djarin from his fellow Mandalorians in the show's first season, and the last time we saw The Armorer, she was fending off Moff Gideon's Stormtroopers. During a recent Dragon Con 2021 appearance, actress Emily Swallow confirmed that the original plan was for her character to be killed off in the season 1 finale.

"We were being set up for that!" she revealed to fans in attendance. "Jon [Favreau] told me that he had originally written it that she did sacrifice herself and that was the end of the Armorer. And then he changed his mind, and I was like 'Thank you!'"

There was no sign of The Armorer in the show's second batch of episodes, so only time will tell whether we'll see more of her down the line (there must have been a reason she wasn't killed). Unfortunately, Swallow couldn't or wouldn't reveal if there are plans for her character to return, but did reflect on her memorable fight sequence with the aforementioned Stormtroopers.

"Lauren Mary Kim, my amazing stunt double, was the one who did that fight in actuality," she explained. "For me, I knew it happened, but I didn't see it until the episode aired when everybody else is watching it. And so it had a similar effect on me as it happened with everybody else. I was like, 'Thank you, Lauren Mary Kim, you made that character look way better than Emily would have! So it was a pretty breathtaking moment that I cheered like a lot of you did."

Production on The Mandalorian's third season is thought to be underway, but we won't see the show return to Disney+ until sometime next year. The Book of Boba Fett is coming this December, though, and rumour has it that we could see some familiar faces from the main series appear there.

Are you glad The Armorer survived that big battle in The Mandalorian's season 1 finale?
