With the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian now available to stream on Disney+, Jon Favreau has taken to Twitter to officially announce that the show will return for its second run in the Fall of 2020. The Iron Man director didn't reveal an exact premiere date, but he did share what appears to be a concept maquette for a brand new character.

No details on this pig-faced fella were provided, but he looks to be of the same species as the Gamorreans that guarded Jabba the Hutt's palace in Return of the Jedi.

Check out the image below along with a batch of concept art and stills from all eight episodes, and let us know what you thought of the season finale of The Mandalorian in the comments.

I was overall quite satisfied with S1, although I'm not quite as ecstatic about the finale as a lot of folks on the internet.

Gideon was cool and menacing on the one hand, but on the other hand I wasn't quite sure what he wanted and how good he and his guys were at what they were doing. Like, just slightly better communication and the episode/show would've been over in under five minutes. Also he desperately wanted the baby, but then his men could have easily killed it 100x in a few minutes.

Also not sure if IG-11 was programmed that well if his nursing protocols lead him to the choice he made between taking his ward to the ship to safety and carrying it right into a huge firefight/deathtrap.

But all in all there was a lot of stuff I really liked about the episode and the season as a whole, and I can't wait to explore the galaxy a bit more with Din Djarin and Baby Yoda next year!

Can we spoiler-talk here? If that's too much please remove.

Are we really going to learn about Yoda’s race and where he’s from? That’s pretty exciting!

I already saw the first episode back in November, and going off that I look forward to the rest of season 1 (which I'm finally gonna watch it next week after I finish His Dark Materials) and season 2 already.

Hopefully the success of this series means we're getting more series aside from Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars universe, although I do like to see them not set during or between any of the current movies.

@MalseMarcel - since Ray Park wont be Snake Eyes in that solo movie, we should and likely will get a Maul series, since we saw him in Solo.

Anyone else bummed that Ming-na Wen's character kind of went nowhere? I was hoping she would be a key ally again at some point and well yeah...

@SonOfAGif - *spoiler warning for others who haven’t watched*

first, why would she be an Allie to the Mandalorian? She’s definitely not on the “good side”. She’ll definitely be back in season 2. We still don’t know who it was that found her “dead” body before the Mando got back to where the other bounty hunter was watching her. It could have been Moff Gideon, or someone we still haven’t been introduced to that found her. He’ll probably bring her back to life and make her “work” for him. He seems like a extremely smart character that would be capable of this, and finding an individual who is skilled and not fond of the Mandalorian. Just because we didn’t see her again in this season doesn’t mean the plot point was forgotten... have some patience, friend. How about we wait and see where the show takes us? That’s the best part of an episodic tv series... we have plenty of time to let th show build the world, characters and plot.

I want to see Mando fighting in a Colosseum and this would be a perfect gladiator.

Also, this.
