The Mandalorian has returned to Disney+ for its third season, and with Din Djarin determined to return to Mandalore, he heads back to Nevarro for a reunion with old friend Greef Karga (sorry, that's High Magistrate Greef Karga).

Determined to regain his Mandalorian status by bathing in the living waters beneath the surface of his people's home, Din has an idea: bring IG-11 back online so he can explore the surface and determine whether it's safe.

As you'll recall, the droid made a heroic sacrifice in the season 1 finale when he self-destructed to buy Din, Grogu, Karga, and Cara Dune the time they needed to escape Moff Gideon and the Empire. Now a statue in the rebuilt Nevarro, Din and the High Magistrate remove him from the memorial that honours the droid and attempt to bring him back online.

And it works!

Unfortunately, he's reverted to his former programming and immediately tries to kill The Child. Din struggles to stop his fellow bounty hunter (who is once again voiced by Taika Waititi) until one of Karga's own droid servants drops a statue on poor IG's head.

Still determined to bring his old ally back, Din is taken to The Rise of Skywalker's Babu Frik (or an Anzellans that looks a lot like him) and his fellow droidsmiths who determine restoring him is a lost cause. However, if Din can find a new memory circuit, then there's a chance he can bring his old friend back from the dead. Unfortunately, they're hard to find, so the bounty hunter just found himself a new mission!

Babu Frik and IG-11 aren't the only big returns as the episode ends with Din and Grogu meeting with Bo-Katan Kryze. Sat atop her throne, the warrior reveals her followers left when she returned without the Dasrksaber, leaving her a leader without an armu. She wishes Din luck on his quest to return to Mandalore but seems confident she won't see him again!

The VFX on The Mandalorian are definitely top notch. I don't know what happened with The Book of Boba Fett but the CGI was awful at times. This is a case of Quality over Quantity and I think this proves it.

@SonOfAGif - Boba Fett only had seven episodes so it wasn’t quantity that was the issue.

I think the issue is that, if rumors are true, Kennedy was inserting herself into the production of that show too much and Favreau moved away to focus on Ahsoka.

I was today years old when I learned that Babu Frik (and his species) are voiced by the same actress who played Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter.
