The Mandalorian season 3 is right around the corner, and there's a lot of excitement to find out where Din Djarin and Grogu's story goes next. Of course, there are a number of other characters set to make their return, including Giancarlo Esposito's sinister Moff Gideon.

While he was seemingly taken into custody by the New Republic at the end of season 2, it doesn't sound like the formidable Imperial will remain behind bars for too long. Star Wars fans are already convinced that he plays a crucial role in the creation of Emperor Palpatine clone, Supreme Leader Snoke, but for now, it seems he still has his sights set on Mandalore.

According to StarWarsNews.net (via SFFGazette.com), the Moff will don a new armour and helmet in The Mandalorian when it returns to Disney+ next year.

"The helmet will be black with red eyes and horns on it. The horns will be six, similar to what Darth Maul had," the site explains. "It will resemble a Mandalorian helmet, but it won’t be exactly the same as the other Mando helmets we’ve seen. It will look closer to Boba Fett’s helmet but it will be black, shiny, and very sleek. It will also be a bit bigger than the rest."

"Gideon is getting a full upgrade as he will also have a black and red jetpack."

Well, that sounds pretty cool.

The villain is clearly undergoing some significant changes in the show, and donning this Mandalorian armour will surely be viewed as the biggest possible insult towards those who call the planet he laid waste to home. Whether he has more significant ties to the planet than just being its conqueror is unclear, but seeing Gideon back in action wearing this should be a lot of fun.

Rumour has it another trailer is on the way, so we may not have too much longer to wait before getting to see Moff Gideon's new look in all its evil glory.

The Mandalorian season 3 is set to premiere on Disney+ next February.

I have to say for a great actor like Giancarlo Esposito in the role, the utilisation of Moff Gideon has been somewhat disappointing to me so far.

Potentially hot take - I don't want Esposito in the MCU.

He was amazing in Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul.

Between this role and his role in The Boys though, I feel as if he's getting a bit type cast.

@mountainman - AGREED. Not to mention all the Far Cry stuff too.

@mountainman - I’ve only seen people calling for him to play Professor X in the MCU though, which completely goes against that type casting.

@mountainman - yes and no. He plays a wonderful morally grey character. Check out Maze Runner but more importantly Homicide Life on the Street for other stuff.
GhostDog

@mountainman - it would have to be a role where he’s not doing buttoned up, unflappable and sinister beneath a veneer of being well put together.

@Chuck420Taylor - I enjoyed the Maze Runner books when they first came out. The first movie was ok too. But man did that series really fall of starting with the second one.

@mountainman - indeed it did. I always think the delay and the stars injury hurt on top of story for the sequels.

You guys see Moff Gideon ... all is see is Gus cosplaying as cheap Darth Vader without the helmet.

I wish these star wars movies had more aliens and different kinds of robots besides “cute” ones. For the premise it has the galaxy feels the same

@Matchesz - this is essentially why I had to move past SW. We have realistic apes showing emotions (in other movies) yet we only have a handful of aliens in this galaxy, that actually matter? Bring me a non humanoid alien please.

Andor relies on fantastic dialogue, set design and acting; Mandalorian’s going to tweak a helmet and call it a day.

Man, they really threw away all the madness that was the extended universe stuff, only to replace it with just as dumb stuff
