After news broke earlier this week that a brand new Godzilla game would be coming to the PlayStation 3, some fans were weary of how the king of monsters would come off on screen. But now they can see what's on the way for themselves as the first trailer for the upcoming game has landed (after screenshots were released yesterday along with some new gameplay details). Check it out below:

What do you think? I know I won't be buying a PlayStation just for this. Should the game stay as an exclusive or will it do fine on the PS3? Sign off your thoughts below!

Legendary Pictures: Godzilla -- An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

Tie-in? This Godzilla looks traditional, nothing to do with the movie. If the game is close to the fun Destroy all monsters(game cube) was, I'll give an Ernest p. Worrell.

It's unfortunate that Bandai seems to have the monopoly on Godzilla related merchandise. Bandco isn't exactly high on the list of awesome game makers.

But can you really make a Godzilla game that people are gonna clamor for? It's not like you can give Godzilla missions or have quests for hidden items. There's no room for dialogue. The story element of a Godzilla film is usually based around a human cast. In a game where Godzilla is the main character you don't have that. If they tried to make a game with a split between Monsters and human characters I don't think that would go over well with the "A movie/game called Godzilla should be all Godzilla and nothing else" crowd.

At best a Godzilla game is suited to being a fighting game. And even in that genre you're hands are kind of tied. Monsters don't really have fighting styles at least not in the way human characters would. In Mortal Kombat you pick Kung Lao or Scorpion for their different styles. Not so much in Godzilla. Now perhaps an innovation would be to try to channel the movements of animals in nature that the Toho monsters are based on, but good luck with trying that with Gigan or Ghidorah. I don't know. It's a tough nut to crack.

I would love to see a Crisis on Infinite Earths type of thing with Godzilla. Have every iteration of Godzilla and the other Toho monsters ever seen on film, tv, comics, whatever. Let's see the Herb Trimpe Godzilla taking on 98' Godzilla, Spiritual Defender Ghidorah fighting Mecha King Ghidorah, Final Wars Godzilla vs 50's Godzilla.

@WHYSOSERIOUS
I completely agree with you. That picture you put up reminds me of early 90's Nintendo or Atari. I even had fun with those types of games back then. If it was fun then people accepted it, played it, and enjoyed it.
But you are SO right, people today just complain about EVERYTHING.

Anyway, as a fan of Godzilla for 26 year nows, I've grown up with every generation of Godzilla games starting with "Godzilla: Monster of Monsters" on NES. Then "Godzilla 2" on NES, and after that "Super Godzilla" on Super NES, and so on. I missed a few of the Godzilla games that went to game systems that I didn't have such as the TURBO DUO and other games that were on Super Ficom (the Japanese version of Super Nintendo).

But since then, I've gotten the Godzilla games that came out on the Japanese Dreamcast, the American X-Box and Game Boy Advance. My favorite's were "Godzilla: Destroy All Monster's Melee" and "Godzilla: Save The Earth."

And now we have this new Godzilla game coming out for Playstation 3 for Godzilla fans to enjoy. And most of it looks to be the Japanese Heisei iterations of Godzilla (I even saw the Legendary Godzilla in there at the end, which is cool too).
I say all that to say, I'm looking forward to the game. I know that me and my dad will have fun with this game.

Oh come on.
Give us a good Godzilla kaiju fighting game!

Why is it so hard?

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything but this DOESN'T look like it was made in the last 10 years. It looks very dated and that's not good.

I can enjoy games with sub par graphics especially when they are old. Just don't understand why they wouldn't try to make the highest quality game possible.

@whysoserious295

But you have to consider that those were cutting edge graphics at the time.
You can't hold that game up as a comparison because that game and games like it were defining gaming at the time.

You can't compare 1980's Donkey Kong or Mario Bros graphics to Assassin's Creed's because they existed in two different eras, the technology wasn't there, and at the time those WERE good graphics.

I agree that if a game is fun it doesn't matter how bad it looks but there really is no reason that next generation gaming systems aren't being utilized for the abilities that can provide to a game.

When you see something like this that comes across so stiff and dated it's a turn off.

It should be on a phone or some hand-held. Then it would make sense.

W.T.F? I guess the only hope 4 this is if there are a bunch of other monsters 4 Godzilla to fight. & hopefully destroy some big cities. Hopefully we can play as the other monsters & pick our battles, like that Injustice superhero game. My best to all. Go Blue.
