It has been revealed today that Legendary Pictures are financing and producing a movie based on the video game, Dead Rising. Crackle will distribute the film, while Content Media will sell the international rights. Tim Carter has been tapped to pen the screenplay, while Transformers' Lorenzo di Bonaventura is set to exectutive produce. Carter will also produce the movie alongside Tomas Harlan, and their company, Contradiction Films, actually produced Mortal Kombat: Legacy, another video game adaptation. Dead Rising is described as being set during a zombie outbreak, as four characters must outrun the disease's spread and search for its origins. "We are excited to be working with Legendary and Lorenzo, who have both created immersive properties for fans around the world," Carter and Harlan said in a statement. "As avid players of the game, we're extremely thrilled to take the popular franchise that millions have embraced and give them the opportunity to experience it on a new platform." What do you think?

I'm all for zombies but "four characters must outrun the disease's spread and search for its origins" makes me think of left 4 dead instead of dead rising. I still wanna see this but I'm just hoping its set in the mall, frank the photographer is the main star, he combines certain weapons, uses the showerhead on a zombie and blood shoots out of it, and there's loads of Capcom references like the megaman blaster or the tron bon minion mask.

But Dead Rising got sued by the company that made the newer Dawn of the Dead movie because it was too similar.

@ ManCalledSting

The sad thing is the Resident Evil movies in Japan are more popular than the Avengers. That's why Capcom was trying to make the games more like the movie.

And seriously, get Bruce Campbell on this as Frank. Out the door, this has niche-y cult classic written all over it. Bruce is the perfect man for the job.

Oh wow, I had a lot of fun with the first two DR games. I haven't played the third one yet.

If this movie follows the video games closely(unlike the RE movies...), this could turn out great.

They had me at avid players.

Why isnt there a tv show or film being developed and based on The Elder Scrolls? Seriously, Skyrim is amazing and would be great for tv or film adaptation and it has a popular following.
