STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER Sequel Officially Announced Along With Two Other SW Games

Though we don't have a title or release date, EA has officially announced that a direct sequel to Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is in development along with a new Star Wars FPS and strategy game.

Fans have been anxiously awaiting an update on plans for a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, and EA has officially announced that a direct follow-up to 2019's best-selling video game is now in development along with two other Star Wars games.

No title or release date were revealed, but we do know that the Fallen Order sequel will once again be directed by Stig Asmussen, who worked on the first game. Details on the other games are also sparse, but one will be a first-person shooter led by Peter Hirschmann, while the other will be a strategy game developed by Bit Reactor.

Respawn founder Vince Zampella is set to oversee this new three-game initiative, which is described as "a new phase of EA's relationship with Lucasfilm."

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” said Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

“Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games,” said Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Walt Disney Games. “Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”

Work is already underway on all three games, so we should have some updates to share fairly soon - although there's a chance EA will want to save any major announcements for E3 in June.

Eh. I loved Fallen Order (although it was incredibly janky at launch) but this worries me. Respawn in the one EA studio I trust but this reads to me as EA trying to squeeze them for everything they are worth. Also while I wont complain about a Star Wars FPS I’d much rather have Titanfall 3 🤷🏽‍♂️

Really enjoyed the first game (guess that's why it was number 4 on my PS Wrap-Up), so this one can't come soon enough. Wonder if they call it Jedi Fallen Order 2, or go with a Jedi ... or a Jedi ... Order title

@bkmeijer - I think its going to be like the Horison games. Like ho they did Horizon: Zero Dawn then Horizon: Forbidden West (probably to avoid sequel intimidation and over saturation that comes with numbers) this ill go from Jedi: Fallen Order to Jedi: Fallen Empire or something like that

@Ha1frican - aren't ubisoft/massive working on a star wars game as well?

@sickboy76 - I believe so, EA doesn’t have exclusivity anymore as far as I’m aware

@Ha1frican @sickboy76 - Fallen Empire sounds like a good title.

Also think this is one of EA's last Star Wars games. So they have to go big before we're hooked on Quantic Dream' Eclipse and Aspyr's KOTOR remake.

@bkmeijer - I think EA will still keep making games but their time as the only one making them is already over. They probably threw this all on Respawn because if they don’t they run the risk of losing the license altogether lol

@Ha1frican - yeah I could see them keep making games, but for now it does look like their phasing out:

Dont care for SW, but "Fallen Order" was pretty entertaining and third-person action adventures are my favorite genre, so bring it on, Respawn.

Also shoutout to Respawn and EA making the PS5/ Series X version free for existing users with save imports and new trophies/achievements. I had bought it but sold my disk when I went all digital and I was able to load up my PS Plus versions and play it as the PS5 version and pop a second platinum trophy. Gonna load it up before the second one and do a full play through to see how much better it looks and get a refresher on the story

Enjoyed playing Fallen Order, but I'd love a sequel to open up the world a bit. Not fully sandbox, just more exploration, more planets etc.

I know that it's pretty unlikely at this point but if they ever got around to making that cancelled Darth Maul game that would be dope af!
